Former Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry drove to court today for jury selection in his assault trial.
It’s not clear how he’ll get home.
News 5 in Cincinnati is reporting that while Henry was in court, his SUV was repossessed from the courthouse parking lot.
Henry told News 5 that it’s all a misunderstanding, but the fact that his car has been repossessed and his home has been foreclosed on (not to mention vandalized) this off-season is a strong indication that he hasn’t done a very good job of financial planning for his post-NFL life. Now that the Bengals have washed their hands of him and no other teams are showing interest in him, Henry may have cashed his last NFL paycheck, which means he may end up broke just three years after he signed a five-year, $2.79 million contract with a signing bonus of $865,000.
As for the case that had him in court today, Henry is accused of punching a college student and throwing a bottle at his car. That arrest was the last straw before the Bengals waived him.

Too bad they took his SUV, it was only a matter of time until he was arrested for a gas run (its a felony).

With Terry Glen’s knee still banged up, and Javon Walker severely concussed, I’m sure Henry will have a job in the NFL by September.

I kinda feel like we shouldnt be reveling/laughing etc at a guy whose life has gone this bad, after having the potential to be so good, but if nothing else I hope other players see how quickly things can plummet.
The dude has his total life imploding in front of cameras and it’s gotta be rough, so I wish the guy luck in the future, but it’s tough to feel bad for a guy who had everything, and due to immaturity and poor decision making pissed it away.

He’s mainly diappointed that he didn’t get a chance to trash the SUV before it was repo’ed.

I could live very nicely off of $865,000 for at least 20 years. Now if I threw that in the bank, I could live off the interest for the rest of my life.
What a dope. I don’t understand how these atheletes can not manage their finances properly. Seriously, if you have expectations of going into the NFL, take an accounting or finance or financial planning class in college.

a 2M+ deal… almost a million guaranteed, and his home / car have been taken away… unreal… would love to see - outside of 100K watches and stripper poles - what his true assets look like… this could come out in the foreclosure case i suppose…
How do these guys end up in this situation? Ridiculous.

Are they sure it was repossessed? Maybe he lent the SUV to Marhsawn Lynch.
At this point I don’t feel sorry for any of these guys. His sense of entitlement should be waning by now.

No need for Henry to go to the Cowboys. They won the division pretty handily without Glenn last year, should have no problem doing it again this year.

The legendary Taco Bill’s’ “photo” of Henry a few weeks back. with the “Crime for Dummies” book in his hand says it all here.
Perhaps, Henry should have read the “Personal accounting for Dummies” book, as well. Oh wait.. He probably hasn’t read, “Reading for Dummies” book yet.
What a shame and waist.

Henry didn’t go to college. He went to West Virginia U’s football team. Accounting? Finance? Try remedial reading first.

STOOPID!
As a CFP (look it up if you don’t know), I do not feel bad for any of these morons who squander their money. ALL NFL Rookies are REQUIRED to take seminars on money management at the Rookie Symposium.Almost ALL NFL agents also typically offer financial management services. Problem is, most of these idiots think the gravy train will run much longer than it ever does. They a career life similar to a fly’s lifespan (about 7 days), yet don’t think about the following 10-20 years of their life until the NFL pension kicks in. ALL NFL players should be REQUIRED to have some sort of plan for life after football. that is the only way that these morons will not end up as sideshow freaks like they are now.

Worked his whole life to make it to the NFL and then it’s gone. Left with a hazy collection of memories and some very real bills to pay.
I hope he finds his way and becomes a better human being in the process, but I’m not betting on it.

The actual story says the parking lot owners ordered the repo man NOT to take the car.
I wonder if they followed him after he left the parking lot at the end of the day.

Florio, why don’t you post your salaries and how much you make from this site - so we can tear apart your finances?
Most people have financial problems no matter how much “get” suddenly. See lotto winners for a fine example.
This isn’t a criminal athlete problem, it’s a problem that most people that come across big chunks of money have.

Ah, the unsurpassed combination of ignorance and arrogance that is the unmistakable mark of the cowflops fan-troll….
The ‘flops won their division last year, true - then quickly pulled their usual el-floppo in the playoffs. This year they will be lucky to do as well. Their inevitable implosion, as sanguine ship of overconfident expectations is smashed on the rocks of NFL reality, should be much fun to watch.
BTW, if there is even one team in the NFL that will touch the pond-scum that Henry has shown himself to be, it is Jerruh’s ‘boys. Wouldn’t be suprised to see it, whether ol’ Nancy-knees plays or not.
