Of course the Vikings will win the SB. SI is correct every year in picking the winner. Thats why Miami (under the leadership of Culpeper) is sporting new rings.

Harrington the worst? Hardly. The worst (among 1st round picks) has to be one Ryan Leaf, hands down.

How can anyone possibly refer to Joey Harrington as the worst quarterback ever after seeing David Carr “play” the position last year? David Carr’s picture needs to be in the dictionary or sports almanac or whatever beside the term “Worst Quarterback Ever”.

Again with the “nobody can run with Vernon Davis” crap. Why does this guy only have 7 TDs in two seasons? You’d think he was Bob Hayes or something.

Joey Harrington is far, VERY far from the worst QB ever. He’s not even THAT bad. He’s just had the misfortune of being on horrible teams. Now, I’m not saying he’s very good. I think he’s a slightly below average starting QB, and an above average backup.

The vikings have been permanently jinxed ever since the NFL allowed that frachise to set up in Packer territory. Adding another jinx won’t matter.
They have never won the NFC North, never won a world championship, never won a Superbowl.
It’s been 30 years since they showed up for a Superbowl (you know when disco and leisure suits were the big thing).
The dark, stale air arena called the Metrodome where they play has been jinxed since it collapsed under it’s first snowstorm.
Tarvaris Jackson as a starter and not doing anything about it is a self made jinx.
The bigger the game the more they choke.
The jinx will only be lifted if they move. Mexico City, Las Vegas, anywhere.

Ryan Leaf is the hands down, don’t even bother to argue, worst QB ever. I’d pick Joey to play QB for me in a sandlot game, I wouldn’t let Ryan Leaf even sweep out my garage…

Chill out and stop hating. If you know football well enough you should know that stats don’t always tell the whole story. He’s been injured and had to deal with an incompetent OC last year, and an OC his rookie year who didn’t like to pass. Martz is creative enough to find unique ways to get him the ball. When this guy gets the ball in his hands, there is no WR or TE who is more dangerous after the catch. You heard it here first.

I find it troubling that TE Martellus Bennett finds it amazing that Jason Witten tries to be perfect with everything he does because Bennett only points out Witten–none of the other players.
I said it before but will add another “long”–Parcells is long, long gone. And the Cowboys fans are in for a rude awakening when the season starts.

John Cittebart,
You didn’t happen to actually READ the article did you?
I doubt it, because, if you had, you wouldn’t have made the post.
The article was about Bennett’s relationship with Witten and, as such, I wouldn’t expect him to reference other players. It was about how he related to Witten, not his appraisal of the team and other players in general.
Parcells wasn’t all that in Dallas. He was good, but not great in Dallas. I think he was pretty much burned out or heading that way during most of his stint.

Barry Sims probably signed with the Niners since he knew it was probably the only team interested in him where he could do his imitation of a turnstile on each passing down and false start 50 times a year and still have a job. Hey Niner fans, get used to hearing “False start, offense, number 65 - 5 yard penalty repeat the down.”

If you read the article they have an interesting way of explaining how joey harrington is the worst qb ever…or why matt millen is the worst GM ever
and i think we could find a worse quarterback than kordell stewart to pick on in the editor’s note…he did play in 2 afc championships

Someday, I hope Harrington finally gets picked up by a team that actually has a halfway decent O-line and receiving corps, some semblance of a running game, a defense that can keep the score withing reach and a coaching staff that has some idea how NFL games are played. I don’t think that he’s ever experienced all of those things together on any one team. Closest was probably Miami a couple years back when he actually did okay taking over for Culpepper.
Anyway, I think he’d surprise a few fans. Teams like DAL or the NYG could do a lot worse than Harrington for a backup. The Ravens could do worse than starting him while Flacco develops. Maybe if he gets the nod as starter this year with ATL, with a coach who’ll likely stick around and an offense no longer designed around Michael Vick’s specific style, he’ll show something more.

“Chill out and stop hating. If you know football well enough you should know that stats don’t always tell the whole story.”
How is it hating to point out the obvious? Stats to tell the whole story in this case. If nobody can run with him it would be a simple matter of sending him on a fly pattern every play. If he catches it, automatic TD, right? The guy doesn’t even average 10 yards per catch!
“He’s been injured and had to deal with an incompetent OC last year, and an OC his rookie year who didn’t like to pass.”
It’s always something, huh?
“Martz is creative enough to find unique ways to get him the ball.”
By many accounts, Davis couldn’t learn comparably simple offenses of Martz’s predecessors. How is he going to learn Martz’s 4 inch thick playbook? Martz has never been a guy to make a lot of use of the TE anyway. He’s gonna have enough on his hands trying to get Alex Smith to play like an NFL QB.

You haven’t seen Davis play enough. They have hardly gotten him the ball in space. Don’t pull the “It’s always something” card because I gave you two reasons. San Francisco has not thrown the ball a whole lot the past two seasons. When they did pass last season, Hostler kept Davis in to block because he could not figure out how to protect the QB. The year before, Turner was very conservative and used Davis as a run-blocker, an aspect he’s excelled at. Just stick to watching your Cowboys and pretend you’ve won a playoff game in the last decade. I’ve gotta run now. My popcorn’s ready.
