Free-agent running back Cedric Benson, the fourth overall pick in the 2005 draft who was cut earlier this month by the Bears, has been ordered by a judge to install an ignition interlock breathalyzer in his car.
Benson was arrested for DUI in the day preceding his release. In May, he was arrested for boating while intoxicated.
Benson also must take alcohol counseling courses as a condition of his bail.
Meanwhile, Taco Bill has chimed in on the situation with a new Pic of the Day.

Just to clarify, the IID is not just to register your blood alcohol level.
The main point is that if you blow ANY alcohol, your car wont start.
There are many ways around it, such as driving a different car, or having your passenger or some stranger blow into it so the car starts.
But still, what a lush you must be required to have an IID installed.

Not necessarily - not sure what the Texas law is, but in some states it is mandatory on a first offense. I’m all for preventing drunk driving, but the implementation of these devices is not a good thing. They are unreliable, too often malfunctioning and recording false positives. This results not only in a car not starting, but on a rolling retest (a driver must blow again after a certain period of time after the initial start to ensure he didn’t have a sober buddy help him start the car initially) a car may go dead on the driver - very unsafe. It’s only a matter of time before one of these incidents results in a serious crash causing injury or fatality. There has to be a better system than this…

No sh@#… that’s not my point. The goal is to make the roads safer and these devices create yet another hazard endangering everyone on the road - innocent, sober motorists included (not just the drunk driver). Introducing another potential cause of crashes is not the solution.

Maybe we should reserve comments in this space towards players who actually play in the NFL.
