Is Fisher the only coach that doesn't have a SB ring? Didn't think so idiot. There are many good coaches that don't. Going 10-6 and 11-5 is a step in the right direction, he HAS been to one SB which he nearly won, and an AFC title game since then. To call him an overrated coach is just asinine, the guy finds a way to win with a roster full of what you people consider "overrated" players, doesn't he? You MUST be a cheatriots fan. The guy is highly respected around the league, morons like you that know nothing about him or our franchise consider him overrated because he doesn't have a ring? Please.

vick led the falcons on late season swoons two years in a row, and hs wasnt any kind of leader... unless by leader u mean someone who threw everyone else including the fans under the bus every chance he got.

15-16 as a starter those last 2 years. boy he sounds like a real threat to win every game...

he also couldnt beat certain teams... philly. detroit. tampa, usually.

green bay, in the middle of a 4-12 debacle in 05... beat atlanta in atlanta.

not a student of the game, couldnt be told anything. good riddance.

"Unlike Vick, Young has the size to see down the field, and the arm strength to get the ball there."

Florio you are implying, intentionally or unintentionally, That Vick has a so-so arm. If it was intentional then you are an idiot. Mike Vick may have been so-so or bad at a lot of things involving quarterbacking but he had a rocket arm at least as strong and probably stronger than Vince Young's.

Jeff Fisher & his style of coaching = zero Superbowls.

Go ahead and be a perennial 9-7, 10-6, 11-5 team with a top 10 defense but no Superbowl Rings, what do I care?

Personally, I am a huge Jeff Fisher fan. He has always gotten the most out of the least with that smaller market team. He won during the geographical and psychological transition his team went through going from the Houston Oilers to the Tennesee Titans. He went to the Super Bowl with them and almost beat the Greatest Show on Turf. I think he will get a lot of mileage out of Vince before it's over... And Vince has a lot to work with...

FartFaceKilla must've forgotten that Maurice Jones-Drew had the third most total yards for a rookie ever and is ahead of Colston in Vince Young's "You Stole My Trophy" line. (Worst recipient of a major award since Eric Crouch.)

Renaissancemanrt, while you were researching your pathetic, piintless stat of points per game, did you also notice that from 99-2003 the Titans were the winningest team in the NFL? Probably not. Why? because as the Titans historically haven't scored a lot of points per game (which they actually DID during Heimerdinger's last stint with the team, and guess what? He's back), but they did many other things BETTER then most teams in the league. Such as controlling the clock, running the ball, and keeping the other teams high scoring offense on the sideline and forcing them to play tight ballgames. That is Jeff Fisher's style, it always has been and it always will be. And that is why he is a great coach, name another coach in the league who has used that approach as successfully as he has. Look up how many times we've led the league in time of possession. That stat is just as important as ppg becaus ethey are directly related. The Titans scrap for their wins, they don't blow people out, they play smashmouth physical football. It is a winning style of football, the last two seasons have proved so, and so will this one. Hate em or love em, the Titans will be the thorn in every team's side for years to come, and we will do it with VY as our QB no matter how overrated and terrible you people and the media think he is.

The lack of threats at wideout really scares me.
The TE's are good with Alge Crumpler, Bo scaife, Stevens( from Cal),but the WR corp ranges from unspectacular to unproven: Justin Gage, roydell williams, brandon Jones, mike williams, paul williams, jason rivers, and lavelle hawkins. I like the young kids if they develop in a couple of years: Paul williams, Rivers, and Lavelle Hawkins. McCarins, and mike williams are just not good players. That leaves roydell williams, Justin Gage, and Brandon Jones. I don't know if any of them would start on any other team in the league. I expect Lavelle Hawkins and paul Williams to challenge for playing time this season over this trio, and hopefully they do because Vince just does not have the horses he needs in the passing game.

Bottom line is that I expect to see a lot more two and three tight end sets and a heavy dose of lenwhale, Hery, Johnson, and of course VY to run the ball.

There's no question that Vince's deep throws were pretty bad in his rookie season and in the early part of '07.....huge, looping rainbow throws that might or might not come down in the vicinity of the intended target. (Truth be told, they looked more like punts than passes....and were about as accurate.)

However, his deep throws improved noticeably as the 2007 season progressed, both in appearance and accuracy.

To illustrate my point:

Through nine games, Vince averaged a pitiful 5.8 yards per attempt....worst in the league. However, over the final seven games, he put up a very solid 7.5 yards per attempt, including several completions of 40+ yards.

Not that it means anything, but had he done this over a full season, 7.5 YPA would have ranked VY among the league's top ten, and ahead of some very respected names......Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, Donovan McNabb, Derek Anderson, and Drew Brees.

Of course, there's a huge difference between doing it for 7 games and doing it for a full season. But if nothing else, it certainly suggests that Young is hardly the lost cause that some people would have us believe.

Colintino....
I hope you are talking about a wedding ring and not a Super Bowl ring, cuz the only time he's getting a SB ring is if he's sitting the bench on another team. I don't care how much heart he has (he must have plenty of it when he contemplates quitting after his first season) because he just doesn't have the skill.
And how the hell did Uncle Rico get rookie of the year???? Definitely should have gone to Marcus Colston.

Fisher is one of the most overrated coaches in the league. I don't know why the Titans keep him around. I had to go back to 2003 to find a season where the Titans were ranked in the top 10 in points scored in the league. That's 4 straight seasons where they couldn't crack the top 10. That's bad. And before that, I had to go back to 1999. So in 10 seasons, they've cracked the top 10 in points scored twice. And don't give me that defense wins championships junk - how many has Fisher won with this approach?

The Titans are like the Chicago Bears of the AFC. Run the ball for 3.9 yards a carry, kick field goals, play tough defense, just get by.

Apparently this good (according to the hometown newspaper:

Last year Young's completion percentage jumped nearly 10 points from his rookie season, but he was 8-of-47 (17 percent) on attempts when the ball traveled 21 yards or more in the air. That was down from his rookie season, when he completed 18.9 percent of similar throws.

The NFL average last season on passes of 21 yards or more in the air: 28.4 percent.

I'd say he sucks...

A 3/4 and sidearm throwing motion has never been a recipe for success for being a deep ball passer. Vince simply does not have the mechanics to be a great deep thrower.

Also, as much as I hate Michael Vick, I hate to give him any kind of credit, but there should be absolutely no doubting his arm strength, he had a cannon but what he lacked was anticipation, accuracy and field vision (as a passer). He most certainly did not, as this article suggests, lack arm strength.

I think VY could mature into an above average QB and see the post-season a few times, WITH the Titans. And I think the strategy of letting him go deep a few times a game could open a few more running lanes for him, but only if he connects on a few of those deep throws.

And there's the rub. Actually, TWO rubs.

First, the accuracy of his deep throws has been, um, historically less than consistent. Second, who's gonna be there to catch it? I don't see any standout, sticky-handed WRs on their roster who have shown they can consistently get open deep. Sure, one or more of their young guys could blossom this season and perhaps we haven't seen yet what they can do because the Titans haven't been running deep patterns. And, sure, VY might have spent every day for the last six months throwing a hundred 40-yarders at a tire swing with the QB coach and vastly improved.

But I'll believe this strategy is successful when I see it. If they can get 3 or 4 wins before their BYE week using this, then - maybe, just maybe - I'll revise my prediction that they don't make the playoffs.

how is this article terrible Supersouthern? Do you think florio went out and made up an article to fill up some space? No, he is reporting the news around the NFL. VY dosn't have the greatest longball in the world and thats why they are working on it in the offseason. Dinger has already stated he isn't going to make vince a pocket passer, he will be a rollout QB taking one more person away from the secondary to cover the sneak. This pulls the SS/FS and opens the long ball. Whether he can throw the ball their is up to Vince. But the fact is your the only garbage on this page.

A VY fan who is not off the bandwagon. He's had a rude awakening to the NFL, but who expected him not to? He came out as a raw prospect from a single-read option offense. If his incredible heart hadn't won him a national championship, he would have gone back to college for another year.

I'm not expecting Vince to be "done" this season, but he should be improved (yes, it would be hard not to) and I expect him to be competing in the playoffs in years following. And, mark my words, he'll get his ring. He's got mad heart, and that's what people underestimate.

And when this doesn't work, they'll blame the OC again. I'm sure Norm Chow thought of this when they had Drew Bennett, but had little faith in VY to deliver. If they wanna try to relive the Air McNair days, they may wanna put a guy in there who didn't throw 9 TDs and 17 picks last year.

Go deep with what receivers? And don't tell me about no damn RB running routes, please. A deep passing game is not something you can simply gain by practice in the offseason. You need a true deep threat and a QB that can deliver to that threat, accurately. The Titans have neither.

First off, I'd like to say I'm a huge VY fan. I live in Austin and have watched him play since his high school days.

With that outta the way, I'm here to tell you Tennessee fans out there to forget you ever read this article. Vince's deep ball is atrocious, always has been. Sure, he can air it out, but not accurately. I could probably count on one hand the number of in-stride long balls he's tossed; usually they're ducks that WRs have to adjust to and jockey for position under with at least one DB.

This article is terrible. To suggest VY could dump his running game and become a true pass-first guy and be successful in the NFL is absurd. What little passing success he's had is on account of the fact defenses usually bring the safety up in the box to help contain him on the ground and he can usually hit his TE as a result.

I wish Vince the best and thank him for his part in our national championship, but I think I'm officially off his bandwagon...
