That whole Buzz Bissinger-Will Leitch live TV showdown on HBO’s Costas Now has sparked a closer look at web sites known generally as “blogs.”

There have been many articles written, both in the old media and the new, in the wake of the April 29, 2008 incident.  We mention two of them here because they’re so well written.  And because we get mentioned.

This one in the Boston Phoenix includes the following quote:  “’There are some very good blogs dedicated to single subjects,’” [Bissinger] acknowledges; his examples include Beerleaguer, dedicated to the Philadelphia Phillies, and profootballtalk.com.  ‘They’re very informational. Their goal isn’t to play a snarky game of gotcha, or to be malicious and cruel.  They’re great.’”

Some would beg to differ on whether we’re malicious or cruel.  (We don’t think we are; we just think we tell the truth as we perceive it to be.)  And some would beg to differ on whether we’re “great.”  (We don’t think we are; we prefer “stupendous.”)

This one, published in Sunday’s Los Angeles Times, reiterates that Bissinger is a PFT aficionado.   The article also includes a couple of quotes from yours truly.  Hell (heck), David Wharton even gave us the last word, an Eddie Murphy-Bill Cosby comparison that arises directly from the following clip from Murphy’s 1987 deservedly R-rated concert flick Raw.

In the interests of equal time, here’s an old curse-free clip from Cosby.  We’ll leave it to the commenters to comment (duh) on which is funnier.  (We choose both.)
