Offensive tackle Barry Sims, cut by the Raiders in February, has reportedly narrowed his field of prospective employers to three.
They are, according to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times, 49ers, Rams, and Ravens.
Sims, per Wilson, nearly signed with the Panthers in March. He also had drawn interest from the Patriots.
Undrafted in 1999, Sims signed with Oakland and spent nine seasons with the Raiders.

I’ll give the edge to the Niners. He’d be understudy to Jonas Jennings at RT who has played in only 21 of 48 possible starts since coming to SF, so there’s a better than 50-50 chance he’ll see significant playing time . . . plus he already lives in the Bay Area.

Understudy… for a player over 30, no i dont think so, although SF is a highly likely place for him to land but not as an understudy. Rams had injuries @practically every oline position and sims can play lg or rg quite fine. And with the ravens there are big question marks at the tackle positions and more of a chance he starts from the get-go since they arent so sure about their 3 young OTs especially Gaithier/Yanda on the right-side.

As a Rams fan I will take any able-bodied Offensive Lineman. Get ‘em into camp and lets see who can play. Lord know we need the help.

Nice choice of teams. Nothing like starting at the bottom and staying there.

He will be a sufficient addition to the Niners O-Line. An immediate upgrade at RT, or even LG, and then the Niners could move Snyder back to RT and have him, Rachal and Jennings duke it out.
Or you can move Snyder to RT and put Rachal at RG and LG.
Either way, the Niners (like the Rams), are in need of Oline help no matter if he’s 30something or not.
