Apparently, the road to Tinsletown doesn’t pass through Titletown.
Despite reports that the Green Bay Packers are interested in Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reports that Taylor isn’t interested in playing such a small market.
“I don’t see it happening,” a source close to Taylor (presumably, agent Gary Wichard) told Greg Bedard of it Journal-Sentinel.
Taylor, per Bedard, is believed to be interested in the Cowboys, Patriots, Chargers, Eagles, Jaguars, and as many of seven others. The primary factors are market size and likelihood of playing deep into January.
So why not the Packers? If Aaron Rodgers can stay healthy, the Pack could be right back in the thick of things. And even though Green Bay isn’t L.A. (and we assume that most residents of Green Bay like it that way), the Packers are one of the most storied franchises in all of sport.
But Taylor supposedly doesn’t have much faith in Rodgers. “He’s been through that quarterback thing before,” the source told Bedard. “He doesn’t want to go through it again. Maybe if Favre was still there, but even that wouldn’t be a given.”
Meanwhile, Taylor can forget about his first Hollywood outing cranking out tons of box-office beef in the land of cheese.

If it’s true, hell with him. Could be angling for more money, but good luck with that when negotiating with Ted Thompson.
Anyway, why give up one of TT’s highly valued draft pics for a guy that is only gonna play a year? Cullen Jenkins is very good at DE. Our DTs will get healthy. Except maybe Harrell, but Daniel Muir looks like a player too.
Dude probably doesn’t want to play in the cold.

i dont se why GB being a small market would be such a big deal. he doesnt think that he would get a ton of coverage being in GB? i think he would. oh well, have fun playing for a crappy dolphins squad next year, and then being in some stupid movies where everyone says your a bad actor and should have stayed in football. we can roll with kampman jenkins jolly and KGB.

As a Dol-Fan, I am not at all happy with JT. This is the guy who I truly always believed in. He is a great player, but it seems his ego has taken over. Too bad, I always thought he was a “good guy”, but now he seems to have turned into a real meat head. I say good riddence (spellcheck??), and don’t let the door hit ya where the good lord split ya!

It’s funny because Charles Woodson said the same thing a few years ago and now, not only does he like it in Green Bay, but he’s playing for a team that almost went to the Superbowl last year and has a shot to contend far into the playoffs again this year.

Who would want this guy on their team? You have to question his commitment to football. His head is clearly not in it. Just imagine him not wanting to tackle hard in case he breaks a nail. A broken nail won’t look good on T.V. I think his aversion to Green Bay is that it is too far from the T.V. studios in New York and L.A. and there’s no Wolfgang Puck’s. What a waste of football talent. Tosser.

I see, not only is Jason Taylor a DE, he is also a GM and asute judge of the future of QB’s. What a 10 cent A**hole!.
But he does have one valid point, he can recognize a bad QB when he sees one. God knows playing on the Dolphins for all those years after Marino, he would have to be blind not to.

Taylor would be a great addition to Green Bay’s defensive trench. I would be surprised if Ted pulls the trigger on this one, considering his history. However, with losing Cory Williams an ageing KGB, and a first round turd, Ted should consider a trade. Giving up good draft picks for a guy that will only play for one more year dosen’t make much sense, unless they believe they can make a legitimate run at the super bowl this year.
Maybe Taylor should go to New England, where all those other self-centered, egotistical cheaters reside.

It’s funny how powerful that Hollywood bug bite can be. It fills one’s head with grand illusions, ’til they fall back down to reality and land on their ass. Wait until his first movie goes belly up. All his new friends in Tinsel Town will vanish as fast as his reputation has in Miami.
I actually work in the film industry in LaLa Land, I’ve seen it happen over and over…

Why does playing for a ’small market’ make any difference? Wtf does he think he’s going to be doing during the week? Showing up to practice in the morning, and then filming advertisements for “Hip Hop Abs” later in the afternoon?
I hope he never sees a playoff game for the rest of his short career, much less win a friggin game.

Reggie White went to GB because they offered him the most money. Anybody remember what Ryan Longwell had to say about GB?
“Every town in America has an Applebee’s restaurant. In Green Bay, Applebee’s was about as fancy as you got. When my wife, Sarah, and I would get a baby sitter, a nice date night was Applebee’s. In Minnesota, I’m sure there will be plenty of options before Applebee’s comes into the rotation.”
Also…
“You’re in a fish bowl, so when you are 1-4, everyone has an opinion and they feel obligated to share it with you. I can remember meals at Applebee’s after losses, or after I missed a field goal, where people would be, like, ‘What are you doing? We needed those; those points are huge.’ Stuff like that. I’m thinking, ‘Yeah, you know I was aiming outside.’ But you just agree with them. You’re not going to win any arguments with them. The thing is, you have to have a thick skin being in the NFL anyway, and here, you do a little bit more. And you can get handcuffed also from success, people feeding you candy all the time, telling you you’re great, so you’ve really got to have an even balance in your perspective.”
