Former Lions running back Kevin Jones, a one-time first-round draft pick who was abruptly dumped earlier this year, says that he is healthy and ready to play.
“I’ve never worked out like this and I feel great,” Jones said recently.
Dr. James Andrews operated on Jones’ knee in January, and suggested that Jones would be able to play in 10 months.
“I honestly feel like I’m ready to play right now,” Jones said.
He’ll work out for scouts on June 28. Last month, the Patriots visited with Jones. He also has visited with the Titans.
Jones claims that he has received contract offers. If that’s true, then there should be more than a few teams present in eight days when Jones shows what he can do.
We assume that one of them won’t be the Lions. Unless Jones plans to become a receiver. (We couldn’t resist.)

At the right price and if he’s healthy, he will be a good change of pace/complimentary RB

A team should come and say they are signing Jones, then at the press conference walk out with a Kevin Jones jersey, throw it in the trash and pull out a Shaun Alexander jersey and announce Alexander’s signing (Penn State fans will get that).

Tampa Bay has their QB’s, Detroit has their WR’s, and Tennessee has their RB’s.

Hope he doesn’t convert to Islam, because Muslims apparently can’t play.

If the Bears management weren’t so stubborn, they’d sign Kev to a cheap contract as insurance in case Forte is not the real deal. But alas they are way too stubborn.
