It’s still unclear why Giants running back Ahmad Bradshaw is behind bars, but his father suggested to the New York Daily News that it has nothing to do with the legal trouble Bradshaw had in college.

The Daily News reports that James Bradshaw, Ahmad Bradshaw’s father, was reached by telephone last night and “would only say that the probation violation had to do with a previous juvenile offense unrelated to the player’s run-ins with the law while at the University of Virginia and Marshall University.”

That contradicts the theory floated by Tom Rock of Newsday that either one or both of Bradshaw’s two college arrests violated his probation from when he was a juvenile, and that’s why he’s currently serving 30 days in jail.

But it still doesn’t answer a very simple question: Why is Bradshaw in jail? His lawyer won’t say, the team won’t say, and everyone is left to wonder.
