oh silly mark- you mistake me for a TT hater. in fact, i am the opposite. I think it is pretty clear that thompson has made this team better after coming in as the team is 4-12 and now we 13-3...i am surprised that a person that seems to have as knowledge as you do cant see how favre was "forced" out. lets see.....we have a first round draft pick sitting on the bench. someone who was drafted with the complete and undeniable purpose to be the replacement of favre.so lets imagine for a minute that favre stuck around(for one more year): rogers is on the last year of a rookie contract and would have been a free agent coming into the 09-10 season. brett finally retires(after playing the 08-09 season) and you now have a free agent-former first round-considered top 2 or 3 fa QB in the league(much like matt shuabs situation). take everything you know about TT and now try to convince yourself that he would give rogers as much or more than some other team desperate for a QB with no real in-game performances to judge him on/justify giving him a large multi-year deal... really MARCDUKE this isnt that hard to figure out.... it has NOTHING to do with randy moss and EVERYTHING to do with aaron rogers. rogers was drafted as the "future" and if you know as much about TT as you imply, you would realize why he would not let a first rounder go for absolutley nothing after paying him a bunch of money for being a backup...its called protecting your investment. do you understand or should i elaborate more for you?

How in the heck did Thompson force Brett out? Oh wait, let me guess because he didn't get Randy Moss? You know the same Randy Moss that took less money to go to the Pats. I am so tired of Thompson haters who want to discount every thing he's done for this team by saying he made Favre retire. It's B.S. and any SMART person knows that.

sounds like a vikings fan HOPING this doesnt happen. i didnt believe it could untill i read the part about KGBs huge salary. it would be very odd that TT would make a move like this after he forced brett into retirement (any smart packer fan knows this), but i can see a scenario wher/why TT would make this type of aquisition at this time. we have a very good TEAM and with key players comin up on free agency in the next year or sothe packers are arguably in a "win now" situation. KGB is on his way out and i dont expect ANY sort of impact from him at all this year so bag him up with a conditional pick and maybe a will blackmon type and we got ourselves a deal and a top 5 defense-easy...

It makes sense for the packers unless they have to give up too much for JT. IMO he's worth a late round pick considering his age.

Taylor will pull a Plummer if GB takes him since they have no QB and are only marginally better than .500 without Favre. Now, if Brett unearths himself the Pack would have a chance and JT would be interested.

KGB ("The Rushin' KGB") was never an every down player. He was merely utilized in that capacity by former Head Coach Mike "The Dumbass" Sherman. Seemed like KGB was getting to the QB just a split second late last year. I expect him to be all right, but Jason Taylor would be a vast upgrade. It would allow Cullin Jenkins to move to the inside, where the Pack has alot of injuries right now, Justin Harrell being chief among them.

KGB has only been kept around because of his monster contract. he stopped being relevent 2 or 3 years ago. Kampman is the star of the line and noone else on it particularly matters. The Packers already had KGB, so why not keep him around?

However, if they got any kind of offer at all for the guy, they ought to jump on it. Theres no way he'll be re-signed at the end of his contract, he'll be a vet minimum type player at best after leaving Wisconsin, and Taylor + Kampman plus those high draft pick linebackers should give whoever lines up at quarterback as a good a cushion as he's gonna get for at least a couple years after the inaugural season.

I doubt KGB would be cut, providing he'll renegotiate his contract. He is still effective (although his injury might change that).

Given that, if the price is right for Jason Taylor, and the Pack do obtain him (please please please), KGB days would be over as a Packer.

kgb wont get cut wo/GB @least trying to trade him for a mid-round pick or a conditional b/c he can still bust out w/a handful of pressures & 1.5+/- sacks a few games a year. he can still be a d*** fine rotational edge-rusher as long as his rehab hasn't adversly affected his offseason training.

KGB was never an every-down DE. Or at least, he shouldn't've been. Unfortunately, they gave him a starter's contract before he had started for a whole season, and once he tried it everyone knew he was better strictly as a speed rusher. He did still have an all-around good season last year (and is 1000x better than Jamal Reynolds, if you can even remember him -- Cletidus Hunt, Joe Johnson? etc.) but I expect '08 to be his last in GB.

I would be unfortunate to see KGB go - everything I've seen of him says he's one of the good guys in the NFL - but it's the nature of the league. So if the Pack can get a recent NFL Defensive Player of the year for a year or two, I'm all for it.
