Plaxico Burress told a former college teammate that he expects to have his contract issues straightened out before training camp.

Burress appeared on former Spartan and Eagle Ike Reese’s Philadelphia radio show on Tuesday night and told him that he’s confident that he won’t miss any time in Albany next month. “Honestly, I think my situation is going to be rectified before training camp. I’m not going to worry about it, but I did state that I was unhappy with my current situation with my contract. It’ll be worked out.”

Burress missed last week’s minicamp because he’s dissatisfied with his current contract, which runs through the 2010 season. At the time he said he wouldn’t step onto the practice field until he had a deal more to his liking. A contract similar to the one the Raiders gave Javon Walker would probably fit the bill. So long as Plax doesn’t celebrate by spraying anyone with champagne, that would be a win-win for everyone involved.
