Tennessee’s Ryan Fowler spoke to reporters before Titans practice today and denied ever using steroids.

It was reported last week that Fowler was facing a league suspension based on information provided by the now deceased steroid dealer David Jacobs. The Nashville City Paper asked Fowler if he could definitively say he’s never used steroids and Fowler responded “I can tell you that.” He wouldn’t comment on his relationship with Jacobs and asked for the benefit of the doubt until the “whole story” came to light.

“My hope is that people can sort of reserve judgment before they know the whole story,” Fowler said. “My reputation my whole life has been as a good guy. I hope that this one accusation doesn’t taint my reputation that’s been pretty clean, especially without knowing all the information.”

Although Fowler’s never tested positive for performance enhancing drugs, the league reserves the right to suspend players if they have “sufficient credible evidence” of drug use exists. Whether or not such evidence would hold up at a hearing sans Jacobs remains to be seen.
