Raiders receiver Javon Walker has given an exclusive interview to TheDirty.com, a web site that gathered notoriety over the past few months for, among other things, the publication of photographs of NFL players in compromising positions.
Here’s Walker’s claim: “I was just back at my room and at about 5:30 in the morning, I got a knock at the door, I opened it and 3 guys with guns were there, they cracked me in the head a few times knocking me unconcious [sic]. They then robbed me of everything I had– my watch– money– everything! Somehow they got me to the car and dropped me off in the street. That’s what happened.”
Our reaction? Perhaps they need to check out Walker’s brain function a little more closely. Because whatever it was that cracked his orbital bone also might have functioned as the equivalent of a lobotomy.
Think about it. Three gun-wielding thugs walk through the lobby and, somehow knowing the number of Walker’s room, show up there, knock on the door, and pistol whip him when he opens it. Then, after ransacking the room, they drag his unconscious body out of the hotel without being detected and leave it in the street.
Also, and as our buddy Jason Whitlock has pointed out via e-mail since we initially posted this item, there are surveillance cameras everywhere in Vegas. So if Javon was staying at the swankiest hotel or at the Motel 6 at 707 Fremont Avenue, chances are that there’s footage somewhere of the marauding gang of thugs who accosted Walker at his room and dragged his unconscious body to their car. The likely absence of such video evidence will blow his story out of the water.
As we suggested during our Tuesday night visit with Todd Wright on Sporting News Radio, maybe the crooks put Brandon Marshall’s McDonald’s bag over Walker’s head so that Javon wouldn’t know where they were taking him.
If Walker’s story is true (and we’re certain that it isn’t), it’s surely not a random act. Robbers just want the loot — they feel no need to disrespect the victim if doing so enhances the possibility of being caught.
Given this lame-ass explanation, we’ve concluded that any and all jokes about the situation are fair game. And so we present Taco Bill’s Pic of the Day, crafted in honor of the Walker incident.
UPDATE: Then again, maybe it was a pack of land sharks.

You talk about cameras? Here is the quote from the lead on the case.
No arrests have been made, but police have some leads.
“We don’t believe this is a random act,” Las Vegas police Lt. Clint Nichols told the Chronicle. “They knew who he was and (Walker) presented a target.
“We did get a surveillance (video) of a vehicle and suspects that may have been involved. We know there were suspects, possibly two (but) we haven’t identified anyone yet.”
Sounds to me like cameras (potentially some at the hotel) did record this happening. Why can’t we just wait until we know more.
Are we really suppose to take the word of thedirty.com? Lead story = exclusive interview with Javon Walker moments after surgery. 2nd story = Hef’s girl is a lesbian. 3rd story = Look at this weird looking douche bag at a seattle club. Are you serious? It’s one thing for a site like this to turn up pictures from someones cell phone that was at a party with a celeb. But it’s a little far fetched that Javon Walker would grant an EXCLUSIVE interview to thedirty.com MOMENTS after surgery. Come on Florio!

di is right, Vegas is a rough city. If you’ve only visited, you have no idea. Everyone in that city is looking for their opportunity to get paid. If you play you car radio too loud, someone will follow you home and steal your stereo. The safest place you can be is directly on the strip with the tourists. Look what happened with Adam Jones, he got a guy killed just cause someone was hoping he would get paid off.

When will NFL players learn to stop making it “rain”? Maybe this one was trying to get the crowd to put the Dom back in the bottle.
The high end hotels have security on every floor in a central location. Walk around like you are lost or have lost your key for more than 2 minutes and you will be greeted very quickly.
The guy got jacked up, then physically removed from his room at the freaking Bellagio? It requires a suspension of disbelieve. Bellagio has too many high rollers to be blind to predators.
I can’t wait for the hotel and street level video to come out.

I bet one of the gang members dressed up as a women and thats how they got Walkers room number. Then said crossdressing gang member gives Walker date rape and the gang proceeds to rob him. He was too embarrassed that he got fooled so he tells this story. Boy how Playmakers was so on the mark…

As someone who worked security in Vegas for a couple of years, this story is more than plausible.
Very few hotels have cameras on every hotel floor. Also, drinking and drugging is a bit of a problem in Vegas, so seeing a guy carried out of the place unconscious is not a rare event. It probably looked like 3 guys carrying out their unconscious buddy who had too good of a time with a woman from a hotel that they weren’t staying in.
I actually met Javon during my time in Vegas…good guy…not bright, but very friendly.
One other side note…a former co-worker of mine was threatened by Mayweather while on duty. He was afraid to escort him up the elevator for fear of his life. What provoked Mayweather to want to kick his … Absolutely nothing.
I think the way this story has been laid out from all angles makes perfect sense. I’m just glad Javon suffered a different fate than Darrent Williams.

As a hard core Raiders fans…. and one that was even bitching about the fairly classless comments some folks round here were making about the dude getting his chops busted…. I even have to admit that this picture of the day is by far the best I have ever seen on this sight. Classic! I even think this sight needs a best of gallery to go with it.

This is the guy Mike Shanahan HAD to have, the guy that he couldn’t let the Eagles or anyone else outbid him for. Shame trouble follows Javon the way slime follows a slug’s trail.
Good use of a second-round pick, Mike…

This is the biggest load of bullshit i’ve ever heard in my life no one in their right mind would beat someone down in a hotel room and drag em out and leave them in an alley or whatever it makes no sense he is obviously hiding something in fear that the NFL will investigate this matter and suspend him. I am in complete favor of a 4 game suspension for him if Godell is serious about this stricter personal conduct policy he will sit him for 4 weeks, but the real victim here is the Raiders orginazation like they didnt have enough problems already Florio if you haven’t done so yet please give them some TURD POINTS for just being a stupid orginization Al Davis deserves it for giving a guy 55 million dollars to go get his ass beat for being an idiot.

I believe Joliet Jake Blues’ string of explanations to his ex-fiancee more than I do this piece of fiction that Walker has concocted.
Granted, he may not be all there yet due to the concussion and “The Dirty” isn’t exactly the most credible journalistic source. But if he subsequently sticks with this story I have to wonder if he’s not covering up some shady activity of his own.

Presumably if the press has access to him, then the cops have also interviewed him and will be double checking that story with security camera footage of the night.
It does seem odd that Walker was out on his own at any point, especially when you consider the nevitable hangers on. On the other hand, it’s not like he has a reason for lying is it? On face value, if he was up to anything that he didn’t want the media to know about, I’m sure he could have got someone else to take that risk.
His story isn’t impossible to believe, but it is slightly odd.

Florio you have really not been on top of your game lately. If there are cameras that show his story is a lie then it will come out, but until then i see no reason to treat him like Pacman Jones. He was a victim, the joy you get in trashing this guy is just plain sad.

Forget security cameras. Whether he stayed at the Motel 6, The Wynn or the Bellagio… the doors have peepholes for a reason. If someone knocks on my door at 5:30 am, I’m checking to see who it is before I open it. Especially if I’m in Vegas and I just spent the night with my ass hanging completely out acting like a total douche.
He shoulda had someone with a Wonderlic of at least 10 concoct a better bullsh*t cover story. There are more people buying Zima than this one.

See what really happened was after Javon got out of the club, he got a text message from coach Kiffin instructing him to pick up depends for Al Davis as part of his OTA’s, even though Davis specifically instructed Kiffin to go get them to make him more disgruntled to try to get him to quit, Javon stopped at a 7/11. He pulled out his wad of cash to pay for them but the 7/11 cashier couldnt break the 100. So as Javon proceeded to the ATM and withdrew the cash a couple of guys later to be known as “the gang” spotted Javon with his cash and crystals. As Javon paid for the depends and then proceeded to walk back to the hotel with depends in hand, he was jumped being robbed of cash, crystal, and depends.
