"If it’s tedious for you, then stop trying to spin it. Stop bringing up the 49ers, Broncos and Dolphins and the small minded complainers. The latin everyone would appreciate is closer to ‘mea culpa’ than ist ed and et al. "

I'm not spinning anything, I'm pointing out all the facts.

I'll stop bringing up the 49ers, Broncos, Dolphins, Bears, etc. when the small minded complainers stop pretending that the Patriots were the first and only team in NFL history to break a rule.

"the knowledge that no matter how you try to spin it, your team cheated"

Yes, we are all aware at this point the Patriots broke a rule and were punished for it. Not unlike the 49ers, Broncos, Dolphins, et al. The only difference here is that there seem to be a group of small minded complainers who are obsessed with bringing it up at every opportunity. It's beyond tedious.

No! Buchanan FTW!

"Stealing “things” is against society’s rules (i.e., laws.) Stealing signals is neither illegal nor contrary to NFL rules. Your analogy sucks more than the Jets."

My analogy does not suck, sir. If you don't refrain from such bombastic attacks I'm quite sure I will cry. There, now you've done it. My keyboard is wet with the tears from your insult and the knowledge that no matter how you try to spin it, your team cheated.
C-H-E-A-T-E-D. As in loss of 1st round draft pick and the largest fine in NFL history cheated. Those tapes of the last game of the regular season sure would have come in handy this year wouldn't they?

If I leave my front door unlocked, it's okay if you steal things from my house?

If you live in New England, then the answer is apparently Yes

No. Hoover was incompetent but Wilson was dangerous racist demagogue who is the source of most of what's wrong with the current federal government.

'The Pats were 8-8 the year before they started to tape defensive signals. They were 5-11 the first year they taped signals. In fact, they lost the infamous Tampa Bay game that year where the Pats supposably knew all the Bucs plays because they taped defensive signals.

Besides, anyone who watched the Patriots back during their first two Super Bowls, knows they were good because of superior defense and an average offense that didn’t make mistakes.

In 2003, the Pats had the 17th ranked offense (12th in PPG) and the 7th ranked defense (but first in fewest points allowed, along with most interceptions in the league, fewest passing TDs allowed, most defensive TDs scored with 5 which padded the Pats offensive PPG average, gave up the fewest passing TD, allowed opposing QBs to complete the second worst passing percentage, first in pass defenses, fourth in sacks, and second in total tackles).

Exactly how did stealing defensive signals make the Pats’ defense so good and the offense average? '

Nice try. The Patriots have always had an uncanny knack for scoring right when it looked like they were down and out. I'd give them credit for being clutch or a little smarter than everyone else to be that productive with marginal players. The scheme was greater than the athletes in it and they played the Patriot way. Remember?
Now it turns out you had an advantage that could help explain the being a little bit smarter and you wonder why it has the backlash it does. As to the offense being middle of the pack, if you oculd count cards in Vegas... would you do it every hand? Or would you do it as you need it? BB has put his legacy in terrible doubt because no one will ever be able to truly figure out how much difference it made. It obviously made some difference or they wouldn't have dedicated the resources to it. One day when I have more time I'd like to look at the Patriots winning percentage of games decided by 7 points or less vs the next 10 winningest teams to see if anything jumps out. Regardless of what anyone else says, if it's 3rd and 10 in the 4th quarter and I know where the blitz is coming from I have an advantage.

Wingnut, save your allowance money and maybe you can get an SRO ticket to watch the Raiders get killed by the Patriots this December. I know I'll be enjoying the game from a luxury box (that is, as luxurious as anything can be in Oakland.)

By the way, is being semi-literate a requirement for Raider fans?

Wow, your life must be quite pathetic.

All I know for sure is the Patriots won during the time period when Bill Bellicheat was taping and once that stopped, the Patriots lost that Superbowl.

Karma has a funny way of exerting itself. Bellicheat is not a likeable guy to begin with and suffering from a case of moral bankruptcy has done nothing to enhance his image.

So I take it Specter never got around to asking that "nice young boy" Matt Walsh what the other team was he witnessed video taping signals on the sideline?

I suppose I shouldn't be too upset - after all, this is just about an obscure NFL manual rule that no one ever heard of before last September. But still - Walsh states that he witnessed another team "cheating" and NO ONE in the media, in the Senate, or in the commissioner's office is the least bit interested in following up on that?

Who cares what his motives were? If he hadn't gotten involved then Goodell would've never been forced to publicly acknowledge that the Patriots were cheating from the very beginning. Goodell and Kraft would've gotten away with a nice little piece of Hustle Bustle leading everyone to believe it was only 2006-07. Destroying those tapes stank from the very moment it was reported and now we know for a fact why. Now it's time for Spector to be done....and let us, the NFL fans outside of New England, decide how history remembers the Cheating Pats. Props to Spector for making Goodell tell the world the truth. And props to John Tomase for prompting it all to happen with his immaculately timed article. And BIG UPS to Eric Mangini for subjecting that scumbag Belichick to months of public ridicule and humiliation.

Spygate may be over on the nightly ESPN telecasts Pats fans, but rest assured you're nowhere near done hearing it from the rest of us. Have fun with that, I know I will.

How dare you bring my wife into this! (mock outrage)
I thought I was pretty light, I'll work on that for you. As far as getting to 5 before Pittsburgh gets to 6, I hope you don't have suspicion based drug testing at work.
You mean they didn't have it TiVo'ed? Oh my God! What was I thinking?
I didn't think they were using it in the same game, if I did I'd work at ESPN.

I still don't mind being ridden like a bicycle though...

It can be fun Mr. Magoo, you should try it with your wife. You might lighten up a bit.

Yep, they sure did suck before the video taping. Pete Carroll had a lot to do with that unfortunately.

As a matter of fact, they sucked in their first year (this is assuming that no one other than Belichick ever video taped signals before 2000 including himself) of video taping.

I guess they just needed practice on how to decipher grainy footage, unlock the encrypted signals, figure out which of the three coaches had the 'live' signal, relay this to the players during substitutions, and finally execute the play so they could use the footage during the same game as the 'experts' claim they did.

We'll get to five before the Burgh gets a sixth, you can bet on that.

Keep 'em coming magoo, I know you can do better...

"My point was the Patriots sucked immediately before they started taping."

The Pats were 8-8 the year before they started to tape defensive signals. They were 5-11 the first year they taped signals. In fact, they lost the infamous Tampa Bay game that year where the Pats supposably knew all the Bucs plays because they taped defensive signals.

Besides, anyone who watched the Patriots back during their first two Super Bowls, knows they were good because of superior defense and an average offense that didn't make mistakes.

Exactly how did stealing defensive signals make the Pats' defense so good and the offense average?

'I also remember reading that people used to wipe their asses with used corn cobs, so what’s your point?

The Pats used to suck on a weekly basis? Yep, they sure did. But those memories are much easier to live through as we just need to see those 3 Lombardi’s sitting in Gillette Stadium.

Yep, I certainly remember, which is why it’s even sweeter to see this team kick other teams’ asses on a weekly basis.

By the way, what’s wrong with being ridden like a bicycle? '

I bet those corn cobs hurt. Did you use them last week? My point was the Patriots sucked immediately before they started taping.

You're still at 60% of the Steeler's Lombardis. We'll see how sweet this year is for you, though I'll wish you luck.

It's nice to see that Specter is finally going to do his job. Regardless, it's nice to see this witchhunt is over. Although, there's always a chance Kobe Bryant might stub his toe in Game 6 and it'll be related somehow to camera gate by Florio.

‘HA Wingnut would rather be a fisherman than a Pats fan.

You should try being a Pats fan first. Trust me, much more fun when your team wins almost every weekend. ‘

I still remember when the rest of the league rode the Pats like a bicycle. Do you remember what the Pats were like before video tape?

I also remember reading that people used to wipe their asses with used corn cobs, so what's your point?

The Pats used to suck on a weekly basis? Yep, they sure did. But those memories are much easier to live through as we just need to see those 3 Lombardi's sitting in Gillette Stadium.

Yep, I certainly remember, which is why it's even sweeter to see this team kick other teams' asses on a weekly basis.

By the way, what's wrong with being ridden like a bicycle?

All of the Patriots championships were won before the league sent out the memo that Belichick “misinterpreted”. There’s no taint on the championships but a lot on Belichick.

HAHAHA...you said 'Taint'.

Yes, a lack of closure for a huge scandal like this great, yeahh! Now we can always second guess the extent of the Patriots cheating, what real impact it had, etc... Three Super bowl wins where cheating was involved, awww to heck with it... play ball!

HEy wingnut, its great being a Patriots fan, every week we watch the games knowing that our team is one of the best in the NFL & our QB is the best along with our coach NOT like some other green team you cheer for whose QB puked his way on the most important drive of his career. BUT then again your team has NEVER won the Super Bowl. Maybe your coach should worry more about what goes on inside his house. Half the fans are already waiting for the Kevin Kolb era to begin LOL

Its true, "Beel Beelicheek" won't be suspended or lose his job (yes KY we know, he loses Superbowls instead, sheez) But if he did lose his job you can't tell me that the other 31 GMs in the league would not be interested in hiring him. Well, make that 30, the Browns probably wouldn't be interested. He would surely end up somewhere, too much talent and knowledge.
The only true way to punish Belicheat;
keep him out of Canton.

"“Maybe Specter can go after the NBA for his next political grandstanding scheme.”

Not likely because Donaghy did not affect any 76er games (that we know of)."

Specter said in the article that he has no interest in the NBA scandal. He did hint that if the NBA puts together a NFL Sunday Ticket type of package and sells exclusive rights to DirecTV, he reserves his right change his mind on the issue though.

It is a bit hypocritical of him. The NBA has antitrust exemptions (before people argue they don't, look it up they do), there is an obvious cheating scandal and may be wider range than people know, and the NBA has no interest in even going through the motions to investigate to see if the allegations are true and just trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug. These are all reasons why Specter said he was involved in Spygate in the first place.

"And as far as taxpayers paying for stadiums, mr. senator…”everybody’s doing it”."

Incorrect... the Patriots didn't get any money from taxpayers outside of the standard funds for infrastructure provided by the state. So the Patriots actually were not doing it.

And BTW, Spygate won't be over until..... Oopps, it is over. Nothing more going on with Spygate than a bunch of haters crying that "Dynasties not losing Super Bowls", astericks, Cheatriots, etc. Stuff I and most Pats fans could care less about. In fact, as long as the Patriots are winning, I relish the hate.
