U.S. Senator Arlen Specter suggested in an interview with the Philadelphia Daily News that he may be done looking into the New England Patriots’ practice of videotaping their opponents.
In the interview, Specter said, “I’ve gone as far as I can,” on the issue, and he doesn’t expect to call hearings or take matters further because the Senate Judiciary Committee already has “too much to do.”
If Specter is done pushing the Spygate issue, then the Spygate issue appears to be over. The NFL has long since said it’s ready to move on, and Specter was the last high-profile figure still pursuing the matter.
That doesn’t mean Specter thinks sports leagues should be outside the purview of United States Senators, though. He also told the Daily News that taxpayers should not have to pay for stadium construction for NFL owners.

Hey, I finally agree with Spectre about something.

Maybe Specter can go after the NBA for his next political grandstanding scheme.

Wow, Specter must be taking his meds again. He said two things that make sense: 1) the Judiciary committee has too much to do [to waste time on Spygate] and; 2) taxpayers shouldn’t pay for new stadiums.

All of the Patriots championships were won before the league sent out the memo that Belichick “misinterpreted”. There’s no taint on the championships but a lot on Belichick.

Specter was totally biased and not objective. If he was so concerned about the integrity of “sports”. He had plenty of opportunities to speak out recently: Baseball Instant Replay, NBA officiating and where was he on Big Brown - this horse had over 100 million dollars bet on it and finished dead last. The jockey even admitted he reigned the horse in. If I had money on that horse I expect him to run and try to win.
So it’s very very clear where that Specter was looking through “green tainted spectacles” and trying to compensate for Quaterback who was puking in the huddle in the 4th quarter (having an anxiety attack).
Specter = PINHEAD

@ Casanova:
“As for other sports scandals, Specter said he’s “not interested” in recent allegations made by former NBA referee Tim Donaghy claiming that the league influenced referees as to the outcome of playoff games.”
For anyone who thinks he was in this to “protect the integrity of the game”, can see now that he was full of shit.

Fluoride, what are you gonna do without Spygate!?
There goes half your blogging subject matter.
No more Hatriot fans fighting with Patriots fans?!
Is there really nothing left of the horse to flog?
Do dynasties really lose Superbowls KY?
Can’t we find SOMEthing to accuse the Patriots of?
It just won’t be the same without the bashing.
The NFL needs the hate, otherwise we’re just stuck with these stupid offseason DUIs, boring.
Maybe we can get a mole into Gillette Stadium and have him measure the distance between the uprights, I hear they are a full inch wider than the rest of the league, what cheaters!
And as far as taxpayers paying for stadiums, mr. senator…”everybody’s doing it”.
Please Fluoride, find some more dirt on the Cheatriots, you can’t let it die, do it for the boys at ESPN, C’MON!

Luckily for the NBA, Specter isn’t a Sixers fan and Comcast doesn’t have a beef with the NBA. Because Specter is all about the integrity of the game…. Well, as long as it is in his own personal interests to care about the integrity of the game. Otherwise, he doesn’t care just like he said in the article about the NBA scandal.
No matter what you think of the Patriots or Goodell, you should be outraged how a Senator like Specter used his Congressional powers repeatedly with the NFL to serve his own personal interests. That is a far worse scandal in my mind than Spygate, Tim Donaghey, and steriods in baseball combined. Sports are entertainment. A Senator is put in charge of help running this country.

HA Wingnut would rather be a fisherman than a Pats fan.
You should try being a Pats fan first. Trust me, much more fun when your team wins almost every weekend.
You all say it, but none of you mean it. If you had the chance to grab Belichick for your coach you would in a heartbeak. Fortunatley for Pats fans, he is locked up for 10 years and you all , supposedly don’t want him.
Love him or hate him he ain’t going anywhere and netiher are the Pats.
Go Pats!!!! Belichick for President !!!!

Nothing more going on with Spygate than a bunch of haters crying that “Dynasties not losing Super Bowls”, astericks, Cheatriots, etc. Stuff I and most Pats fans could care less about. In fact, as long as the Patriots are winning, I relish the hate.

Incorrect… the Patriots didn’t get any money from taxpayers outside of the standard funds for infrastructure provided by the state. So the Patriots actually were not doing it.

Specter said in the article that he has no interest in the NBA scandal. He did hint that if the NBA puts together a NFL Sunday Ticket type of package and sells exclusive rights to DirecTV, he reserves his right change his mind on the issue though.
It is a bit hypocritical of him. The NBA has antitrust exemptions (before people argue they don’t, look it up they do), there is an obvious cheating scandal and may be wider range than people know, and the NBA has no interest in even going through the motions to investigate to see if the allegations are true and just trying to sweep the whole thing under the rug. These are all reasons why Specter said he was involved in Spygate in the first place.

Its true, “Beel Beelicheek” won’t be suspended or lose his job (yes KY we know, he loses Superbowls instead, sheez) But if he did lose his job you can’t tell me that the other 31 GMs in the league would not be interested in hiring him. Well, make that 30, the Browns probably wouldn’t be interested. He would surely end up somewhere, too much talent and knowledge.
The only true way to punish Belicheat;
keep him out of Canton.

HEy wingnut, its great being a Patriots fan, every week we watch the games knowing that our team is one of the best in the NFL & our QB is the best along with our coach NOT like some other green team you cheer for whose QB puked his way on the most important drive of his career. BUT then again your team has NEVER won the Super Bowl. Maybe your coach should worry more about what goes on inside his house. Half the fans are already waiting for the Kevin Kolb era to begin LOL
