The Denver Post has dusted off a 2002 interview of the late Tim Russert, which was conducted by former Post writer Adam Schefter, now of NFL Network.
The full interview is right here, but the following passage sums up Russert’s passion for his hometown Buffalo Bills:
“[A]bout three or four years ago, I was walking through Reagan National Airport and all of a sudden I felt a tap on my shoulder. ’Tim, excuse me, my name is Scott Norwood, and I just wanted to introduce myself.’ I said, ‘Scott, stop. I know who you are. I was there, Scott.’ . . . He wanted to bond over the Bills, not realizing that I still wake up screaming in the middle of the night, WIDE RIGHT!”
MSNBC continues to cover Russert’s passing, focusing on his family and his passion and his Buffalo roots and his incredible achievements, and though a lot of what they’re saying has already been said, I still enjoy hearing it again.
What a world this would be if we all lived life the way Tim Russert lived his.

It would have been very interesting if NBC had the guts to put that guy on Sunday Night Football. I think he would have brought the house down.

As long as a viewer knows where Russert stands in terms of his team preferences, I don’t see the problem.
If the concern is about his politics, then he IMO, is far less over the top than Oberman.

Condolences both to the Russert family and the Norwood family… the latter doesn’t deserve to be the punchline of a joke for missing a 47 yard field goal.

The People lost their Ombudsman yesterday!!! I grew up on Meet the Press-it was a way to get a little education before I spent the next 8 or 9 hours channel surfing various football-related endeavors. You couldn’t channel surf with Russert-you might miss a knockout punch to some politico’s ego!!! My thoughts and prayers are with the Russert family-he will be sorely missed-especially this year!!!

It’s very rare that you can ever say this and actually mean it, but the world is a different place today than it was yesterday.

If everyone enjoyed their job as much as Russert enjoyed politics the world would be a better place. That man was so enthusiastic when it came to politics, and I was stunded to learn of his passing.
It is a shame he wont be here to report for this years election

….oh Florio please stop……you write: “What a world this would be if we all lived life the way Tim Russert lived his.”….well, why don’t YOU take a page from Russert and do something more with your life other than spend it STARTING WILD BASELESS RUMORS about various NFL teams and players…..That’s how you live your life….not very impressive
