The Denver Post has dusted off a 2002 interview of the late Tim Russert, which was conducted by former Post writer Adam Schefter, now of NFL Network.

The full interview is right here, but the following passage sums up Russert’s passion for his hometown Buffalo Bills:

“[A]bout three or four years ago, I was walking through Reagan National Airport and all of a sudden I felt a tap on my shoulder.  ’Tim, excuse me, my name is Scott Norwood, and I just wanted to introduce myself.’  I said, ‘Scott, stop.  I know who you are.  I was there, Scott.’ . . .  He wanted to bond over the Bills, not realizing that I still wake up screaming in the middle of the night, WIDE RIGHT!”

MSNBC continues to cover Russert’s passing, focusing on his family and his passion and his Buffalo roots and his incredible achievements, and though a lot of what they’re saying has already been said, I still enjoy hearing it again.

What a world this would be if we all lived life the way Tim Russert lived his.
