The folks at ESPN, which typically employs a cast of thousands to cover Monday Night Football, will add a zero or two for Week One of the 2008 season, when Green Bay, Wisconsin is unofficially annexed by Bristol, Connecticut for a football game between the Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that, in addition to the MNF crew of Mike Tirico, “Rob” Jaworski, and Tony Kornheiser, the Monday Night Countdown show will air from Lambeau Field, with Chris Berman, Stuart Scott, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson, Steve Young, Emmitt Smith, and Chris Mortensen in the house.
ESPN will also broadcast portions of two SportsCenter shows from Lambeau Field, along with PTI.
Throw in Sal Paolantonio, Rachel Nichols, Ed Werder, Suzy Kolber, Michele Tafoya, and whoever else gets carted to cheese country, and it will make for a great opportunity to burgle ESPN’s headquarters.
Because no one will be there.
“We have not done this since the first ‘MNF’ season on ESPN in 2005,” ESPN communications director Bill Hofheimer told the Press-Gazette via e-mail. “[B]ut with the Packers set to retire Brett Favre’s jersey — and this being ESPN’s first visit to Lambeau Field for a ‘MNF‘ game — the decision was a no-brainer.”

wow, first of all starman- hillarious! jrhsd-whats this crap about pro rating numbers? the facts are simple jarred allen has ONE more sack in the last 3 years than kampman does(allen has played ONE fewer game) if you want to use statistics to judge the players by then the two are VERY similar. i love how the vikes ad A. a safety who played on the worst secondary in the league last year, B. a defensive end who most vikings fans probably never heard of before mark rosen came blabbering on th t.v crying about the league sack leader, and C. a wide receiver who would have a hard time even making the packers roster-and now the vikings are some sort of juggernaut that is just gunna roll on every team they play. ha-hem…..WE ARE ALKING ABOUT HTE VIKINGS(in ode to A.I.)….the VIKINGS…..we are talking about the VIKINGS….another thing, why is it that the first thing that “pops” into vikes fans heads when hearing the word “packers” is someting homosexual? froid may have something to say about that….but seriously folks, both teams should be good enough to make the playoffs, and as fans of both teams know every game between the two is a nail biter( well, except for the 344-0 ass whoopin the good guys layed on the pirates last year) we will get to see how both young QBs react to the big lights, it should be fun, i already have the day off of work on tuesday. god i cant wait, the offseason is much much to long….. sorry i gotta do it…..VIKINGS STILL SUCK!
