The folks at ESPN, which typically employs a cast of thousands to cover Monday Night Football, will add a zero or two for Week One of the 2008 season, when Green Bay, Wisconsin is unofficially annexed by Bristol, Connecticut for a football game between the Packers and the Minnesota Vikings.
The Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that, in addition to the MNF crew of Mike Tirico, “Rob” Jaworski, and Tony Kornheiser, the Monday Night Countdown show will air from Lambeau Field, with Chris Berman, Stuart Scott, Tom Jackson, Keyshawn Johnson, Steve Young, Emmitt Smith, and Chris Mortensen in the house.
ESPN will also broadcast portions of two SportsCenter shows from Lambeau Field, along with PTI.
Throw in Sal Paolantonio, Rachel Nichols, Ed Werder, Suzy Kolber, Michele Tafoya, and whoever else gets carted to cheese country, and it will make for a great opportunity to burgle ESPN’s headquarters.
Because no one will be there.
“We have not done this since the first ‘MNF’ season on ESPN in 2005,” ESPN communications director Bill Hofheimer told the Press-Gazette via e-mail. “[B]ut with the Packers set to retire Brett Favre’s jersey — and this being ESPN’s first visit to Lambeau Field for a ‘MNF‘ game — the decision was a no-brainer.”

Great now we get to hear Berman juice all over Favre and watch K.J. clean it up to keep his job.
Favre is awesome but I hope we get some decent coverage of the actual game and not footage of Favre’s locker in transit to MS for an hour.

Can’t think of a better place for ESPNI (Entertainment & Sports Promoting National Inquirer) than Milwaukee Wisconsin.
When will the Mediots of Bristol come to understand how their infatuation with the washed up choke artist for many years now Mr. Brett Favray is not America’s infatuation?

Simply F#$^ing amazing. The Viqueens sign Allen and they are the second coming of Christ. Let’s see you play a down or two before we annoint you the world champions. 2000 season championship comes to mind. What was the score??? NYG 41 - Viqueens Zip, Zilch Nada, Zero! I just can’t see any Childress team doing anything but sucking. There is a phrase in Cheese Country “The Bears Still Suck”, but you could just substitute the team name with the Viqueens and it would still be a valid statement. So much hope, but alas, another miserable failure in the making.

“burgle espn” what’s to steal?they haven’t had
an original idea in the last decade or more.
espn is the epitome of dumbing down to the most
base audience imagineable.
when you have people like schlereth and carpenter
posing like intellects only bad can come of this.

Am I the only one who sees no problem with this? The game is a great rivalry of two teams who should be good this year. Whether or not it’s overhype, they are retiring one of the best quarterback’s jerseys ever, and it is the first monday night football game at Lambeau Field. ESPN paid what was it, like 2 billion dollars for the rights to Monday Night Football? They have every right to pump up this game. I’m excited to watch it, I think it will be a really competitive game, and to see Aaron Rodgers play.

It’s amazing to see how big the Viking fans talk before the season starts, and how quickly they’ll abandon their team at the first sign of trouble. Why don’t you try consistently selling out the ol’ Humpty Dump, then we can talk. You can’t get a new stadium because the fans… a-suck.

You know you are from Wisconsin when…
You have to tell your 14 year old daughter that she can’t smoke at the dinner table in front of her kids
haha, almost as funny as packer fans trying to make homophobic jokes out of the Vikings team name, despite the fact that their team is the PACKERS the most homosexually explicit team name in history.

As a Viking fan, i’m going to thoroughly watch Jared Allen, Kevin Williams and the rest of the Vikings defense make Aaron Rodgers with Favre had never retired….

Packer (definition)*:One whose occupation is the processing and packing of wholesale goods, usually meat products.
Viking (definition)*:any of the Scandinavian pirates who plundered the coasts of Europe from the 8th to 10th centuries.
Id rather be the fan of a team who is named after a good blue collar position, then a fan of a team named after a bunch of murderers and thieves.
