As the question of whether Bengals receiver Chad Johnson will report to a mandatory minicamp morphs into a question of whether he’ll practice there, agent Drew Rosenhaus has told Sprint Exclusive Entertainment that Johnson has a legitimate ankle injury.

“Chad has been nursing an ankle injury that he has dating from last season,” Rosenhaus said.  “The club has actually been in discussion with me about him potentially getting a scope on his ankle.  So I’m not sure whether or not, at this time, he is going to practice as relates to his ankle.”

The team, to our knowledge, has not yet commented on whether Johnson is indeed injured.

Rosenhaus also updated Sprint Exclusive Entertainment regarding Johnson’s feelings about his current overall situation in Cincinnati.

“Nothing has changed on his end,” Rosenhaus said.  “He has a contract.  He is going to honor his contract.  He is going to be a professional.  He always has been.  He has on more than one occasion discussed his issues with the team. I have been in discussion with the team as well.  I will continue to do that.  Chad will continue to be professional.  Hopefully, whether it’s in the near future or in the long term future, we will be able to resolve this situation.  And right now that is still an ongoing process.  I cannot sit here and say that anything is going to be resolved imminently.  We are hopeful of resolving this situation soon.”

The comment that Johnson will continue to be a professional” implies that in the past he has been a professional.  Does that include when he was roller-skating down Radio Row at the Super Bowl, asking any and every show that was there to spread to word to each city’s fans that he’d like to be traded there?
