Giants receiver Plaxico Burress is attending a mandatory minicamp. But he claims he won’t be practicing unless and until he receives a new contract.
Of course, Burress rarely practiced in 2008, and it didn’t stop him from being effective. So the team shouldn’t be worried, right?
Wrong.
Center Shaun O’Hara has made his displeasure with Burress known.
“Either you are with us or you are against us,” O’Hara said on Thursday. “And I think the players are doing a good job of focusing in on their daily tasks and their jobs, and as long as we all continue to do that, this team will succeed.
“I think there is a right way to do things,” O’Hara added. “I have always felt that as a player, you go out there and put your best foot forward and, as a long as you are giving 100 percent effort every time, you’ll be taken care of.”
Coach Tom Coughlin chimed in as well. “Naturally I want everybody on the field,” Coughlin said. “We anticipated the camp being the camp. We want everybody out here. The quarterback wants everybody out here. The quarterback wants to throw to people; he wants to work with people. That is what a minicamp is for.”
But the Giants have options, as will be explained in a SportingNews.com item to be posted on Friday. We can’t figure out why the Giants aren’t taking advantage of the devices at their disposal to deal with a player who refuses to do his job.
Meanwhile, the PFTV guys take a look at the new non-holdout holdout phenomenon, in which Burress and Bengals receiver Chad Johnson have engaged.

Nice invented phrase. It might catch on. Or not. Naw bus seriously I like it.
“Either you’re with us or against us” does sound like something a football player would say but not someone like, say, the President of the United States (the current doofus).
Sadly, both have.

I wonder what the retired great wide recivers thinks about the new breed of wide out. The guys who deserve more money are offensive linemen, because without them these diva wideouts could not get their catches.

i didn’t see O’Hara catch the game winning touchdown in the Super Bowl but I did see him holding on the shawshank reception….Burress is more important than O’Hara.

Burress is unhappy making over $3 million a season. Boo hoo. Nobody wanted him back in 2005 (except the Giants) when he wanted too much, and even then he balked at that deal initially. He is not even considered one of the the top 20 receivers in the league.

The Giants are heading for disaster in 08. First, everybody was going to be gunning for them this year. Last year, they were the hunters. Now, they are the hunted. Second, Strahan leaving will hurt a little on the field and even more in the locker room. Thirdly, we are 5 weeks from Training camp and there is already in fighting between teammates.
That is a receipe for disaster.

Please name 20 receivers in the league that are better than Burress. Or better yet name the reveivers that are better than him, and get payed a similiar salary (roughly 3.5 mil/year).

Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Steve Smith, Larry Fitzgerald, Andre Johnson, Roy Williams, Hines Ward, Lee Evans, Anquan Boldin, Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, TJ Houshmandzadeh, Braylon Edwards, Deion Branch, Santanna Moss, Marques Colston, Brandon Marshall and Javon Walker. His salary is commensurate with his ability. He signed it, deal with it.

I hope Burress wasn’t injured when O’Hara slammed him. O’Hara must have 80 lbs on the guy!

Lee Evans, Deion Branch, Santana Moss, and Javon Walker are better than Burress? If you truly believe that you should actually watch a game and not play Madden. Hahaha Deion Branch that was funny!
BTW Homer Redskin Florio i love how you say Chad Johnson passed a physical but fail to mention whether or not Plaxico did. Which Tom Coughlin said he CANT participate because of his ankle.
