The pissing match between the New York Jets and tight end Chris Baker has reached a new level.
As first reported by Adam Schefter of NFL Network on Wednesday, the team fined Baker $3,000 for missing an injury treatment session during last week’s mandatory minicamp.
Agent Jonathan Feinsod confirmed the development to Rich Cimini of the New York Daily News.
“Chris was fined for allegedly missing a treatment session, just like Pete Kendall allegedly was put in the rookie dorm,” Feinsod said. Along with partner Neil Schwartz, Feinsod also represents Kendall, whose public battle with the Jets last year resulted in Kendall being assigned to the rookie dorm during training camp.
Kendall eventually was traded after claiming that the team promised to re-do his deal in 2007, and reneging. Receiver Laveranues Coles made a similar contention earlier this year, and eventually got an adjusted contract.
Baker now claims that the team has broken a similar promise to him, and Baker has been vocal in his criticisms of the team.

The real issue behind the bad blood stems from when Mangini signed Baker he thought he would be getting a steady supply of coffee rolls and honey buns. It wasn’t until team ownership pulled Mangini aside that he realized that it was his last name… not his profession.

Wow - things are totally out of control in Jetsville… I think once they created a standard by which players could blackmail the organization for trades or contract extensions it was all over - you can’t put pandora back in that box.

LOL “Out of control” in Jetsville…. Puhlease for Chris Baker??
I think it’s hard to find teams without contract issues…
So far the Jets have had 3 issues - Kendall who was 1 year into a New deal… Coles who took the deal the Jets gave in the 1st place when it was explained to him that MORE years in this league doesn’t mean anything over the money the Jets were Guaranteeing all along…
And now we have Baker, a marginal TE thinking he deserves more money…
Meanwhile REAL talent all over the league like Chad Johnson, Plaxico, a number of Bears players - Seems like a new Pats player each year all go thru this…
To me, the Jets have had it pretty easy - 3 measley cases where the player was pretty much wrong each time.
Nice try though Patsy….LOL

No Footballguy. We’re not laughing at Chris Baker. We’re laughing at the Jests.
And, Pats fans will have the last laugh when Mangini gets canned after a 6-10 season and no one else in the league will rehire him as a coordinator.

Hey FootballGuy,
Pretty funny that you say Jets fans are laughung at the Patriots fans.Your franchise has been a joke for the past 40 years with NO HOPE in sight. We look forward to beating up on your pathetic team once again this season. When the schedule came out we all chalked up 2 wins .It must be fun cheering for the second rate team in the NY market. If the Knicks played in the NFL they would have a better winnig percentage over the past 40 years.

I think we all can agree that missing Chris Baker will not really affect the Jets’ prospects this season.

No anguish from Pats fans…I believe we are fairly happy with the team here in Foxboro.
We don’t care what you dejected fans of the other teams think. Those three titles will always be there no matter how loud you shout about cheating, just doesn’t matter. Keeping yelling about how the Pats cheated your team out of wins.
As a Pats fan, I’m enjoying this.
Football Guy, you can enjoy another sub 500 season. Have fun.

You got it ampats…just like as a US citizen you shouldn’t give a damn about what the rest of the world thinks of this country. They’re just as jealous because we’re on top.
Feels good doesn’t it?

I didn’t know Baker’s middle name was Freaking. That’s some pretty hip parents he has.
