Conflicting media reports raised questions about whether tight end Jeremy Shockey would show up to the team’s mandatory minicamp today, but he did, in fact, report to the team’s facilities this morning.

However, Shockey is not participating in any drills. Instead, he’s merely working with the team’s medical staff.  Shockey has not been at full speed since breaking his leg in December.

Shockey was rumored to be unhappy during the Giants’ Super Bowl run, and he was reportedly almost traded to the Saints during the NFL draft. But more recently the Giants have said they expect Shockey to be their starter in 2008.

Several Giants are sitting out with injuries today, including receivers Plaxico Burress, David Tyree and D.J. Hall, cornerbacks Sam Madison and Corey Webster, linebackers Gerris Wilkinson, Zak DeOssie and Danny Clark and tight end Michael Matthews.
