At a time when many assume that Giants defensive end Michael Strahan will land with FOX, a media source has shared with us rumors that CBS wants Strahan badly.
At CBS, Strahan would join the pregame show, and he likewise would also be a fixture on Inside the NFL, which will be produced by CBS Sports and which will air on CBS-owned Showtime.
The thinking is that Strahan, James Brown, and Phil Simms would be the primary lineup on Inside the NFL.
As to the CBS pregame gig, the person who should be the most nervous is Shannon Sharpe, who clearly is the weakest link in that specific chain.
If Strahan supplants Sharpe, he’d be the second former Giant to send one of the Sharpes into unemployment. A year ago, Tiki Barber’s arrival on NBC’s Football Night in America resulted in Sterling Sharpe being displaced.
Meanwhile, another source with a certain amount of reliable knowledge regarding the situation tells us that our speculation regarding the possibility that Strahan would return to the Giants is on the mark. “If they were to pay him, he would go back,” the source said. “Their idea of taking care of him was $6 million. That wasn’t his idea of it.”
This thing would get very interesting if the Giants were to make a run at Strahan after he strikes a deal with CBS, FOX, or some other media company.

Strahan should appeal to the “Tiffany Network”.

Strahan has had a great run with the Giants. Although it is tough when a leader leaves your team, especially one who had 9 sacks last year - i think it is best for all.
The Giants have a lot of talent at DE, and to be honest, Strahan was the guy who couldn’t stay healthy (prior to last year). To overpay him for another year may not be in the best long term interest for the team.
Besides, when he wants to be he can be the most charming person in the world, and should do well on TV.

If Strahan can replace that loudmouth idiot Shannon Sharpe, I am all for it. I think both Shannon and his brother Sterling are horrible broadcasters and seem to be more interested in hearing themselves talk that provide any real insight. I alway thought Sharpe was the weak link to the CBS broadcast and that speaks volumes considering Dan Marino is on that show (for one of the best QBs of all time, he really doesn’t provide much insight into the game).

Tony Agnone in the Post is quoted as saying the only way he may come back is if the G men were on there way to another Super Bowl and called him late in the season. Personally, I think he is done. Besides, the Giants have a good history when it comes to bringing in retired players to help coach and motivate (i.e. carl banks, jessie armstrong, LT…). He will be around a bit more than people realize, especially since he was so close with so many current players.
BTW his new chick is friggin’ hot! Way better than Jean “saddlebags” Strahan ever was!

CBS will groom him to take over for David Letterman. Gotta stay with the gap-tooth.

I would think that the Logo network would be all over Strahan, not that there’s anything wrong with that.

a media source, AKA Strahan’s agent.
In an unrelated note, Dave G is being pursued for a position offering much more money and more perks
