Usually, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb enters a season fully healthy and, at some point, suffers some type of acute injury that limits his availability in some way.
This time around, there’s a chronic condition with McNabb that is causing quiet consternation even before training camp opens.
McNabb has some type of an issue with his shoulder. Not the Tom Brady “probable” problem, but an apparently real shoulder limitation that is causing the team to limit his work during voluntary offseason sessions.
Per Brian Seltzer of ESPN Radio 950 in Philly, McNabb practiced on a “very limited” basis on Monday, not throwing any passes for the last hour of the workout.
Apparently, McNabb has been on a “pitch count” since May. Last week, receiver Kevin Curtis opined that McNabb’s shoulder is sore.
Per Seltzer, McNabb said that he’s not concerned about the shoulder, and that he’s confident it will improve. Which implies, of course, that there’s something wrong with it.

Looking back to what could be considered his successful seasons with the Eagles, McNabb needs some sort of media attention or controversy in his life to have a successful season. Training camp hasn’t even started and we’re already hearing about him. Pretty soon we’ll hear about some comments he made (or his mom made) or about something someone said about him and that will light the fire he needs. Whatever works, Donovan. My patience is running low, just get out there and win it already!!!

aggiesailor said it best, i dont think i couldve put it any better. My only spin on this is as follows; Don is my favorite player ever. In my 25 yrs on earth, if had many players i follow, but McNabb was always my dude. Ive been one of the ones who have defended him probably too much, but even hardcore McNabb fans like me have limits, and yes, our patience is running thin. What gets me about McNabb, and god nows i’ll probably be called racist,is this. He is, in my opinion, the type of African american that keeps stereotypes going. What i mean is, he seems like the type of person who wants to call racism anytime he can, in any situation, and while he may not have done such a thing so far, im willing to bet once his career is over, he’ll write a book detailing all the racism he encountered while he played. He needs to feel like hes being given the short end of the stick, needs to feel like he has to prove something.
Here’s the thing though, he’s really not proven aything except that he comes off like a crybaby who has a fat girls mentality…NO ONE LIKES ME…BLAH LAH BLAH, THEY WANT ME GONE…..WAAAAAAAH. Its time to put up or shut up beacause this WILL BE his last chance as much as I hate to admit it. If he wins the bowl, mark my words, all this will go away, but if he faulters again, i dont know what will save him. And just imagine the song he’ll be singing once the push comes to shove and he’s out on his ass.

Mr. September will play well in September. Then all we’ll here is how his shoulder hurts. Eventually he’ll throw a pick to a cowboy defensive back and leave the game from embarassment (oops, I mean injury). He’ll never get it done, Philly, so stop waiting.

Donovan has only brought up race once that I can remember.
I think his biggest mistake was to bring it up when he was playing like crap coming back from an ACL tear. The best time to bring it up would when he had the best year of his career after Rush Limbaugh’s comments, because then it wouldn’t appear he’s just looking for an excuse.
McNabb is a great player when he’s healthy, but the injuries have been adding up, and he’s missed a lot of time in recent years, which is the obvious problem many people have pointed out. I don’t think there’s a quarterback in the league who has made a career out of doing more with less like he has.
I don’t understand why the coaching staff hasn’t done more to protect him though. It’s weird… Jeff Garcia or AJ Feeley goes in, and it’s like a switch gets flipped. Suddenly there’s a balanced run/pass attack, the QB doesn’t have to run for his life and get hit every other play. Look at last year– they play the Giants, and no one helps Winston Justice block all game. Then, Feeley is up against the Patriots (who didn’t have near the pass rush the Giants did) and it’s singleback, two tight ends blocking every pass play. I know when you have a better quarterback in, you can do more creative things, but I prefer the balanced offense that wins the time of possession battle rather than the 80 yard touchdown pass or punt offense they seem to prefer with McNabb under center. They seem to have a really difficult time combining elements of the Jeff Garcia playbook and the Donovan McNabb playbook to come up with a logical medium.

ENOUGH!!! I’ve had enough of this guy. His body is more fragile than his ego. What would it take to get Brett Favre out of retirement? I’m serious dammit. Bring in Brett for one year and then hand it over to Kolb. McNabb’s a choke artist - LITERALLY. Biggest game of his life - a win still within reach - and he can’t call signals in the huddle. And don’t forget the TWO interceptions back to back in the ENDZONE. Goodbye Donnie, and take your Parents with you.

Lets look at the time line here.
1st McNabb had a off day be it shoulder related or not he was off in his pass game one day last week which prompted the Curtis comment.
The next day GCobb who was actually at practice observing said McNabb was on top of his game and had a great day and this was after he had batting practice with the Phillies the night before. In other words he was fine.
Today with temps hovering near 100 degree Farenheit McNabb gets a break. Before I jump to shoulder injury I’m thinking it was a heat issue. But that’s just me I’m not running a “Rumor Mill” (read whatever BS we can dig up and spin)

First of all, the guy that said he might come across as racist did not let us down. I love how so many of these so - called fans complain about how McNabb needs all this attention in the media. You do realize that the reason for the original post was due to the opinion of someone working for a (sorry 950 but its true) secondary local radio station. There were no comments made by the staff or McNabb or even a football expert. Brian Seltzer is the same guy who tipped us off to this amazing plan that the Eagles were gonna give Lito some reps at receiver. Who knows where that lead came from. Maybe the coaches just wanted to give Kolb even more reps as they groom him towards the future. I agree that I’d like McNabb to just win already, but my goodness I can’t blame him for getting irritated when people constantly make stories out of nothing.

McNabb always needs an injury. That way he will have that excuse when things go wrong. Like that Groin injury. I remember McNabb coming in against the Cowboys with a groing injury. that is all the announcers were talking about. Then he runs the ball for a T-Down and does the Michael Jackson/ moon walk with a High Kick. Later in the game Roy Williams returns a INT for a T-down and Mcnabb can’t continue becasue his groin hurts too bad. (Back when Roy Williams could actually play) It is always something huh D-Bag Mcnabb? And you wonder why the Eagles took a QB. It is time to hit the road. Along with you always playing the race card and then blaming Limbaugh for making a comment (That was True) for bringing race into things. I think when talking about you, Gender should be the question.

There are several QBs in the league that have been fortunate enough to play on playoff caliber teams for several years, and don’t get nearly the criticism that Donovan gets. Carson Palmer, Drew Brees, and Matt Hasselbeck come to mind. Donovan has had more success, with fewer weapons, than any of those guys. But every year, we hear what a failure Donovan is, and how he needs to step his game up. Drew Brees and Matt Hasselbeck aren’t looking over their shoulders at their potential replacements. What’s the difference between Donovan and Hasselbeck? Perhaps the difference is that Donovan plays in Philly (and Philly fans are irrational and maniacal) and Matt plays in Canada somewhere. Or maybe, just maybe, race has something to do with it. While race it not the only factor, it’s moronic to think that it is no factor at all. Maddenchamp, if Donovan is your favorite player and your “dude”, I’d hate to see how you talk about all of the other players in the league. Your post is absurd.

Remember you’re not paranoid if everyone really is out to get you. Basically this is it, Don has run out of time and chances. Kolb is now the No. 2. The Eagles (and us the fans) will put up with nothing less then 110% from McNabb. If McNabb goes into the season with so much as a hangnail, Kolb is going to be put behind center. And if Kolb isn’t the QB they thought he was, The Eagles are sitting on 2 first round draft picks and will grab their next franchise QB and start the rebuilding process. No pressure, it’s just now or never.
