FLORIO WROTE: "In fact, we think that Engram’s absence from camp could prompt the Seahawks to seriously consider cutting him"

That's crazy. Deion Branch (knee) probably is going to begin the season on the PUP list. They lost D.J. Hackett to Carolina. They're starting a rookie of modest talent at tight end. And Nate Burleson has most struggled in his two years with the team. Now way will they even consider releasing Engram. More likely they'll toss him a couple extra bucks to get him in.

Engram is a nice journeyman receiver, but not an elite that you would break the bank for. He should stop all this nonsense and get focused on winning a Super Bowl with his teammates so they can send the Big Show out on top. Having said that, I wonder what the over/under is on how many players it will take to lift up Coach Holmgren if/when they do win.

Not much, perhaps, but he does have one thing in his favour. With this being Mike Holmgren's last 'big show' so to speak, he is in a position where he clearly believes that the 'Hawks have a shot at the Superbowl - if not, why would he bother coming back? As such, he may be inclined to lobby for Engram to stay.

In fact, I can't imagine them cutting him while Deion Branch's status is still up in the air.

Bobby is one of my favorite current Hawks, but you're absolutely right on this. I think the best he can hope for is to get the team to agree to add some incentives to his deal that will pay him when he produces. And there's no doubt in my mind that if he stays healthy he'll put up the numbers to earn them. With a very young receiving corps and likely a rookie starting tight end, Hasselbeck will be looking his way early and often.
