Could it be that Jeff Gar-she-a simply wants to be paid a ton of money so he knows he doesn't have to compete for the starting job? He should be grateful for what he has. I have never seen a player get by on pure nerve and desire the way he does with the obvious lack of real physical talent that he possesses.

When he signed the contract last year he knew how much he would be making this year and I bet he was happy knowing he had a job and would be paid anything. He has no right to complain about it now. You know if he would have stunk it up last year he wouldn't be offering to pay back any money.

Just shut up and play Jeff.

I wish I was being “taken advantage of” for $2 mil.

okay moonbeam, i'm an eagles fan that actually has a clue and i wouldn't want jeff garcia's old worthless arse for one second. he's terrible. he wasn't that good last year. and all you people saying he was 9-7 last year are wrong considering he only played in 12 full games and was 7-5, in by far the worst division in football and lost at home in the first round of the playoffs. He wasn't that good for the Eagles either, he rode the wave of Andy Reid and Marty Morninhweig finally riding Brian Westbrook and the running game and the defense finally waking up. He took care of the ball for the Eagles, that's it. His stats for in the playoff loss to the Saints when he was with the Eagles? - 15-30, 240 yds, 1 td. Oh, by the way, in that game he had a 76 yard td to a WIDE OPEN Donte Stallworth, so take that out and he was 14-29 for 164 yds the rest of that game. Stellar. If that was Donovan McNabb, he would've been booed out of the city. Then, after the Eagles wouldn't give him a ridiculous amount of money to be their backup he cried about how all he wanted was a chance to play and that money's not a factor and blah, blah, blah, so what happens? He gets his money AND he plays, he plays average on an average team and at 38 years old thinks he's entitled to an even bigger contract? What a disingenuous piece of garbage he is and if the Bucs cave to him, it'll be pretty sad. Tom Selleck was dead on with his salary breakdown. Jeff Garcia is a fake loser and I wouldn't want him in an Eagles uniform ever again. He's not half the quarterback Donovan McNabb is and never was.

Bucs fans, he's not there yet. Wait for it...you'll know he's really mad when he bursts into tears and throws his parasol down and storms out of the room.

But don'w worry, being the true professional, he'll go to the powder room, fix his face and return.

Jeff Garcia said:

“It would be really difficult to go through this season and not have something done before the season,” Garcia said. “I would like to see the appreciation put out there.”

Maybe he as a future at ESPN as an NFL analyst with those linguistics. Or maybe bartending at the Rainbow Grill in Tampa.

getting paid 2 million to play quarterback in these times
is chump change.i don't care what team you're talking
about,2 million is below fair value.
do me a favor, ask any serious eagle's fan if they would
take him back.i'm sure they would accept him in a nanosecond

It's not very honest to say Garcia is only making $2 million this season. He signed a 2-year $7 million deal with $3 million up front. That $3 million is meant to be spread out over the length of his contract. So his salary really is $3.5 million per year. Every NFL contract has major hills and valleys with salaries due to when bonuses are paid.

For argument sake, here are the salaries to the best of my ability of all starting quarterbacks not playing under their rookie contracts:

Carson Palmer $19 million /year
Peyton Manning $14 million /year
Ben Roethlisberger $13 million /year
Marc Bulger $11 million /year
Tony Romo $11 million /year
Tom Brady $10 million /year
Drew Brees $10 million /year
David Garrard $10 million /year
Donovan McNabb $8 million /year
Matt Schaub $8 million /year
Derek Anderson $8 million /year
Matt Hasselbeck $8 million /year
Chad Pennington $5 million /year
Jake Delhomme $4.5 million /year
Jeff Garcia $3.5 million /year
Rex Grossman $3.5 million /year
Kyle Boller $3 million /year
Jon Kitna $3 million /year

Garcia is within 1-2 spots of where he deserves to be paid.

let's recap. he makes less then every starting quaterback in the league. he makes less then all but 2 players from his offensive starting unit last year. The buc's would have been 4-12 without him at the helm last year. they will be 6-10 without him this year( i have a lil faith in the way griese plays in this system). On a team of 53, he was the only player selected to the pro bowl. he signed a good faith (low money) deal last year to prove he still had it. he did. pay him with your 25 million under the cap. Im not talking superstart qb $$'s, but come on i think we can get him into middle ground.

Jeff Garcia needs to shut the **** up...he got a second chance with the Eagles...played well, and got a contract he deserved. It amazes me that he is demanding a new contract given how injured he was this past year...he's clearly trying to cash in while he can which, in my mind, is ridiculous, considering he's making millions right now...hopefully the Bucs trust one of their 35 quarterbacks they have on their roster to take over.

Man...this is really really starting to irritate me...If this doesn't get resolved, then Bruce Allen will have no fan support from me...Everyone can say what they want about honoring your contract and all that...but the Bucs didn't honor their end of the deal last season when they purposely benched Garcia at the end of the season to screw him out of his "Playing 75% of the snaps" bonus. The bottom line, Is Garcia isn't just a good quarterback...He lays his health and his future on the line to win for him team in every game. More so than anyone else in the league...Every time he dives for that extra yard when most QBs would go down, he's risking his health and his future. With the way the league treats their retired players, he just wants to make the money he deserves so he can pay for the health problems that his all-out play style will cause for him some day. The Bucs still have almost $30 million in cap space...and their Pro Bowl Quarterback is due to make $2 million dollars next year...something is wrong with that picture...And as for the "fans" who say you couldnt care less if he retires...I guess you couldnt care less if the Bucs make the playoffs this season...Because without Garcia...I can promise you they wont.

Im not a big fan, but there is no question garcia is one of the better QBs in the game. 2 mill is a joke for a guy who is probably in the top third. The bucs are cheap as hell, i am assuming that their pr guys are commenting and trying to make jeff look greedy. Hell, it is a business, the owners make billions despite gross incompetence (hello, Ford and York families) and a guy who is a proven player deserves his market value. Like i said, i have no horse in the race- i dont care about the bucs, i think that gruden is one of the most overrated coaches in league history, and i dont doubt what TO said about the rat business... but i got to call it like it is.

man with the 28 million the bucs still have to spend maybe they should make there starting pro bowl quaterback happy because last time i checked there is no one the market because if there was we would have already signed him to our QB stable but look at the bright side if garcia retires we can always bring back Vinny Testicals

You guys are being too harsh, as usual. 2 million isn't starting QB money, its not even close. Some second string linemen make that much and for what it's worth Garcia is a fearless, reckless QB who can win games in the NFL. They should throw him a bone and at least make him happy for this year. Tampa's QB situation is bleak, and I see no problem with Garcia realizing that and using what leverage he can to make money that somewhat resembles his market value as a starting NFL QB. Best of luck Jeff...

what is up with players signing multiyear contracts and then complaining about it one year after the signed it. he knew he would get this 2 mil salary this season, he agreed to it last year, now one year closer to a senior citizen discount he deserves more for some reason? give me a break.

I'm a huge Bucs fan and regardless of how important he is to the Bucs I couldn't care less right now if Garcia is on the team next year or not. I am sick of hearing Garcia whine to the media about a contract that he chose to sign on his own free will. Meanwhile players like Phillip Buchanon & BJ Askew kept quiet about their contracts and got rewarded with raises and extensions.

There's one thing that's for sure: Garcia's posturing in the media will not help his negotiations with Bruce Allen, who has a history of not caving despite articles portraying him as a miser in the fish wraps. Allen is simply doing the smart thing by not investing the franchise in a 37 year old QB who is completely reckless with his body by consistently thinking he can truck a 250lb linebacker whenever the play breaks down.

Oh by the way he's still going to get paid $3m next year not to mention the $5m signing bonus, so that sound you're hearing Jeff is the world's smallest violin, playing just for you and your perceived disrespect.

So to sum it up Jeff -- shut up and play or just quit, I couldn't care less.

Garcia is a cry baby bedwetter! Maybe if he was smart enough, he could of got his agent to negotiate a better contract before he signed with the Bucs in the first place! There were other teams who would have paid more after he left Philly. Texans, Minnesota offered him more before they went in different direction.

Every friggin team he has been with, has cut him loose because of his demand for a better contract. SF, Browns, Lions, Philly, and now it's the Bucs. Change your agent moron.

Hey the Vikes could use Garcia.
How about a trade?
I've got a feeling that McKinnie might fit in just perfect with the Bucs.

Unreal.

I continue to be amazed at folks turning down millions to do...what exactly that comes even close to producing that much money? I can understand wanting a trade so you can play but retire or make 2 million for riding the pine?? Gimme splinters baby!
