Nearly two years after a shooting ended his NFL career, Steve Foley has turned himself into police in Texas on charges of attack by a dog.

The charge is a felony and carries a punishment of two to 10 years in prison. Foley’s two pit bulls are accused of attacking his neighbor who was heading back to her house after another block resident shouted to her that the dogs were loose. Twana Schulz suffered bites to the face and arms and a puppy she was carrying was killed by Foley’s dogs. The two pit bulls were destroyed by authorities following the incident.

It’s not the first time Foley’s gotten caught up with the law. The shooting that ended his career came as a result of one of the messiest, wrongheaded all around situations we can remember. An off-duty cop, out of jurisdiction in an unmarked car, followed an extremely drunk Foley until he pulled over. When Foley finally stopped, his companion drove the car at the policeman while Foley made his way toward him on foot and got shot three times. Just a big bowl of wrong and it appears that Foley’s found his way into another one.
