It was no secret in 2006 that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones signed receiver Terrell Owens without seeking the input of coach Bill Parcells.  And it was no secret in 2006 that Parcells and Owens didn’t see eye to eye.

Owens, who previously compared Parcells to Owens’ grandmother (for reasons unrelated to their . . . oh, never mind), now says that the Tuna shouldn’t be messing with the minds of the players who report to him.

I think he plays too many head games with a lot of people,” Owens said in a Bloomberg Radio interview, which will air this weekend.

As to the Tuna’s latest target, Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, Owens says that Parcells is off base in his dislike of Taylor’s televised dancing routines.

“What Jason was doing was beneficial for him,” Owens said.  “It’s not football-related, it has to do with his personal life.  Coach Parcells is way off base to criticize and call Jason out in the manner that he has.  They’re starting to realize he is kind of out of touch with a lot of today’s athletes and things that are going on.”

In Owens’ case, Parcells deliberately referred to his player as “The Player” throughout the 2006 season, their first and only year together in Dallas.

“[T]he way he didn’t call me by my name, it just shows you he likes to play a lot of games that are unnecessary,” Owens said.

Holy crap.  Owens is actually making sense on this.  And we actually think we agree with him.
