We told you yesterday that the Redskins were without LaRon Landry and Shawn Springs at Monday’s OTAs but we didn’t tell you that Santana Moss also missed the practice.
The official reason given was that Moss had the flu but he came clean on Tuesday to the Washington Post. He was sick but it was because he spent the whole weekend celebrating his birthday, it was on Sunday, and the body takes a little bit longer to recover at 29 than it does at 19. “I told them you think you’re still young and you can still hold up, but they all know what time it was. Have to chalk it up and be ready the next day,” Moss said.
As for the non-party related absences, Landry showed up today and said he was taking care of family matters. He practiced with the first team. Springs was absent again, however. Despite reports that it was simply a missed flight that caused his absence, it seems likely that the Skins won’t see him until training camp.
Moss spent the practice catching bombs from Jim Zorn who, based on the above and the Fred Davis situation, is clearly running a looser camp than his predecessor.

Luckily, David Han was there in full pads after talking his way into practice.

Zorn running a loser camp? It’s sad how little the “media” like yourself knows about the world of football. LOL is all I have to say. Springs is doing the same thing he’s done in years past, Landry had other issues to deal with and Moss was just rejoicing life after getting his stuff back together. Where is the article about Santana taking several months off from the NFL life of training and getting married while putting his life in prospective and hanging out with his family? Let that garbage keep rockin while you see Santana have a career year.

It’s nice to see that even people who maintain their body can’t party as hard when they approach 30. Makes me feel a little better about myself.

What a surprise Santana Moss misses OTA’s because he was hungover from a weekend birthday bash and Mike Florio has Josh Alper write the article. If this was Jeremy Shockey Florio would have written a novel bashing him.

The average working American, especially young Americans I would say miss work each year due to circumstances exactly like this. I would suspect many of us have taken a sick day because of a hangover at one time or another.
Now granted this guy is being paid millions of dollars to be ontime, why are we surprised by stories like this? Why is it news worthy? He is a football player, he drank too much and had a hangover.
Now if he had a DUI, or some offense related to alcohol it is news worthy, but to me this falls into the same category as when a player misses a practice due to funeral, or child birth. It is not a big deal.

Is it news when a player has to leave a meeting early to take a huge dump?

“…and Moss was just rejoicing life after getting his stuff back together.”
Is THAT what we’re calling it? Maybe my fiance will buy it as the reason why I’ll be hungover all day Sunday after a softball tournament.

This isn’t “camp” it’s an OTA and it’s voluntary.
It’s like the hangover that keeps you from coming into work on Saturday. Sure, you could catch up on some work if you weren’t hungover, but it’s Saturday, so f it.
