PewterReport.com is reporting that Buccaneers tight end Jerramy Stevens will be suspended for the first two games of the 2008 season as a result of his 2007 “extreme DUI” conviction.
Stevens was already suspended for one game last season in connection with the incident, but according to Pewter Report, Stevens still has two games to go to fulfill the suspension.
Stevens has a long history of legal problems both in the NFL and in college, some of which were detailed in a troubling story in the Seattle Times early this year.
The Buccaneers signed Stevens to a one-year contract in April of 2007 and then re-signed him last week. He had 18 catches for 189 yards and four touchdowns in 15 games in 2007.

Let’s see - the state of Washington has been run by liberals for years and they have been putting “progressive” judges on the bench for equally as long. Yeah - liberals are great for public safety. But what’s even worse about Steven’s history, is that UW, as leftist as any university, with all the accomanying feminist dogma, couldn’t see fit to do anything of substance to an actual woman-abusing monster. Normal students get the victimology third degree the moment they become students - for just showing up. Stevens actually commits rape and UW/local police force leadership defend the monster. To hell with Homgren too - I used to really respect him.

Hey Footballisking, the reason Stevens got off at UW is because football was considered more important than upholding the law. Rail against feminists all you want, but I bet if they had been the deciders in that case Stevens would be rotting in prison.

The local paper did a story on Stevens today that included the Seatle piece about what happened at UW. With that the local WDEA guys pretty much dedicated their entire show to get the fans riled up and attempt to run him out of town. I previously posted on this issue defending Stevens as I had never heard about the college incident and didn’t have the facts on all the other stuff. I was completely wrong and don’t believe he should be playing. However, the NFL does bear some responsibilty to not make these players available because otherwise somebody with pick them up.

The NFL is starting to become one giant toilet bowl! Way too many turds! I thought Roger Goodell was going to clean up this sport! Now he reinstates the skidmark of a turd in Pacman Jones and still lets the biggest steaming heap of a serial rapist turd still play is beyond me!

To bring a known predator into the community because he might catch a few passes? This ain’t exactly Ozzie Newsome. If you read the FULL story from Seattle times and you still want Stevens I would question your judgment. I expect this kind of crap from Gruden but I thought Bruce Allen had more class than this.

Does “extreme DUI” mean that he was extremely drunk or that he was doing extreme driving while drunk?
