In a fairly low-tech (but damn effective) McGyver maneuver, Packers running back Noah Herron recently handled an intruder who was burgling Herron’s home by unscrewing a bed post . . . and clobbering the guy with it.
The incident occurred on Friday night, May 30.
The suspect is hospitalized. Herron wasn’t hurt.
“Noah Herron used necessary, reasonable and justifiable force in protecting his life and property,” Brown County Dennis Kocken said in a press release. “Herron, the victim in this random home invasion, is cooperating with law enforcement.”
Another suspect was arrested outside Herron’s home.

McGyver would have use half a tampon, a dead battery and some dental floss … but good for Herron.

Did he ever choose the wrong house to break into. But I can’t help but wonder how long it’ll be until the “victim” files a lawsuit? Hope you make the team Noah, so you can collect some paychecks.

true that, I still remember the case were the homeowner shot and paralyzed the burglar and the burglar sued and won.
homeowner would have been better off if he killed the guy.

The peckers should get 10 negative “turd watch” points (or credits) for Herron!

man i wish the steelers kept this guy over dookie davenport. a guy who can club a guy with a bed post is a lot more intimidating than a guy who defecates in closets.

Stiller, I disagree. I personally would be far more intimidated by the guy willing to drop trough and crap all over the place, than the dude with the bed post. One dude is just plain crazy (in a stupid kind of way), whereas the other appears to be half way logical. I’m guessing my chances are better against the “sane” guy.

too bad he didn’t totally knock his head off his shoulders, cause you know there is some scumbag lawyer (ok isn’t that kind of redundant??) trolling around the hospital if not already filing a lawsuit!

“Another suspect was arrested outside Herron’s home.”
I bet the lookout man was really surprised when the law rolled up and his buddy was already out cold.
Everyone’s making jokes because Herron actually messed the guy up and is fine, but this could’ve easily been another Sean Taylor incident. Very glad that Herron is alright and the cops got the robbers.

Here in Texas we have a law called the “Castle Doctrine” where no liability can be placed on the homeowner no matter what. Maybe y’all need that up north, if you don’t already have it.

Too bad we don’t have your Castle Doctrine here in California. It’d stop half the nonsense if not more that goes on.
That’s a smooth move, bedpost!!!!

If the robbers in this case sue and win, I think it would force the politicians here to take up such a law. The accomplis was arrested with a stolen car and items from an earlier home invasion, and they are ‘persons of interest’ in a series of incidents. He should get a key to the freakin city. The fact that they waited to release the info for days so they could obtain search warrants suggests that they are about to tie these losers to a string of robberies.

Thats because Texas gets it ! They fry the bad guys and put laws in place to protect the good guys.
Up North (where I live)they are probably already drafting some type of legislation banning bedposts. And if some scum bag got wacked with a frozen fish stick…that would be next on the list.

Najeh Davenport was actually in the closet squatting in a laundry basket. Reports said he had a strained look on his face.

Rumor has it that Najeh was responsible for catching the bad guy outside. Seems that after the bed-post commotion the 2nd burglar ran outside and stepped into a steaming pile of Davenport’s ‘good-stuff’ from which he was unable to escape. He would have gone all, ‘coyote stuck in a trap’ and gnawed his leg off but according to witness, the stench was unbearable. I think I would have rather been hit with a bed-post.

Must have been a pretty flimsy bed post if he could take it apart that fast. Hey, maybe he can get an endorsement deal with a furnature store?

I read a story where someone shot an intruder as he was climbing in the window. Unfortunately, the intruder fell out the window after being shot and died OUTSIDE the house. The homeowner was tried because the intruder was not IN the house when found. I guess the homeowner should have drug him back inside before calling the cops.
GOOD FOR NOAH!!!!

Noah Herron is now my all-time favorite RB from Northwestern who was cut by the Steelers and is now playing for the Packers. Seriously, no on can compare. The guy is a badass.
If he gets sued, good luck winning the case! Any judge in their right mind (which eliminates 30 percent of judges) would rule in favor of Herron, especially with the police department and prosecutor’s office fully behind him. And if it goes in front of a jury, forget about it. They would need about 2 seconds to deliberate and rule in favor of Herron.
