Cowboys outside linebacker Greg Ellis has been unhappy with a lot of things in Dallas, ranging from his contract to his role in the defense.
But Ellis and Cowboys coach Wade Phillips had a heart-to-heart chat on Monday, and afterward, his agent indicated that Ellis was satisfied.
“Everyone is on the same page,” agent James Williams told the Dallas Morning News.
Ellis has skipped voluntary practices this off-season and said he’s concerned that the coaching staff is planning to replace him in the starting lineup with 2007 first-round draft pick Anthony Spencer. But Williams said the Cowboys told Ellis that he remains the starter.
Assuming he’s still a Cowboy, Ellis will make a base salary of $3.325 million this year and $4.15 million next year.

ROFL, Greg Ellis is a great player and has been a fine human being throughout his career. But the last three years he’s become the biggest baby in Dallas in the offseason. he seems to need an inordinate amount of ‘comforting’ about his role, his status, etc., every year.
Let me get this straight, Ellis had 12.5 sacks in less than full time duty, made the pro bowl and he thinks Dallas is going to replace him with a 2nd year DE-turned-OLB, who, even if he is talented (he will probably be a beast)? Umm, okay, when exactly does he think Dallas has lost its mind?
Man up Greg. Enough already

He’s happy, now that T.O. agreed to share the hat.

Greg’s crazy, but he’s a pretty darn good player so he should stop worrying. However, his constant worrying is kind of humorous.

I don’t really care about how good/bad a player may be. But is anyone else sick and tired of guys who choose to vent through the media first, rather than talking to their head coach beforehand about their roles for the upcoming season instead of making themselves look the part of the of a potential malcontent? What’s the old saying? “Better to keep your mouth shut and look like a fool, rather than open it and remove all doubt.” Or something like that.
