Carolina Panthers rookie offensive tackle Jeff Otah practiced for the first time during today’s organized team activities.
For the Panthers’ coaches, that made today their first good look at their first-round draft pick. Otah, a 6-foot-6, 330-pounder who played his college ball at Pittsburgh, had been held out of both the team’s May minicamp and last week’s OTAs with a high ankle sprain.
The high ankle sprain, which he suffered in August and which bothered him throughout his senior season, has long been a concern and is one reason he lasted until the 19th pick in the draft. But it has apparently, finally, healed.
“It felt good to finally get out there,” Otah said. “You know what you’re doing, but you’ve got to get it in your head a little faster so you can react.”

I wouldn’t be suprised IClight pounder is right. I’m a Pitt fan and would not be suprised if Mike McGlynn has a better career in the NFL Hope Otah proves me wrong tho.

It’s like I told our local guys…it’s just the beginning of June! How in the world can you say he will be a bust when he is coming back from an ankle sprain in college and is just now getting healthy? Talk about jumping the gun…let’s at least wait until the pre-season to start making those types of predictions, so we can watch him play a little.
