Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones has received permission from the NFL to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and the preseason. However, he has not yet been reinstated to participate in regular-season games.
The NFL said as follows, via a statement: “In a letter to Jones, Commissioner Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by September 1. Commissioner Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner. Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.”
In other words, if Jones stays out of trouble between now and September 1, he’ll be permitted to participate in regular-season games. This halfway-house-type move makes sense; if Pacman gets in trouble again, he simply doesn’t get back in — and the league doesn’t look foolish for taking a chance on him prematurely.
There’s also a belief in some league circles that Pacman’s presence on the team owned by Jerry Jones helped grease the skids for Pacman’s return. Commissioner Roger Goodell reports to the 32 NFL owners, and few have as much juice as Jerry Jones.

yeeeeeah, I’m sure his employers would love that tactic. What Goodell does to any one team he can and will do to any other team. Use your head!

This isn’t news. I said a teraflop times Pacman would be reinstated. Jerrah Jones got the assurances from the NFL offices before he traded for Pacman–allegedly.
But why can Pac use the team’s facilities for practicing? Isn’t he still officially suspended?
Why are SOME players on SOME teams prohibited from having contact with their team while on suspension and others are NOT?

This is perfectly indicative of the kind of selective justice that roger goodell has been meting out ever since he became commish. Pats tapes get swept under the rug, Pacman Jones can run amok with little consequence. But god forbid you’re some unestablished hood on a small market team who thinks he can “make it rain” cuz it worked for Pacman, because Goodell will come down on you like a ton of bricks. Don’t get me wrong, to an extent that is the same way its always been in the league, as Ray, Leonard, and Michael Irvin could tell you, but it ought to be obvious that Roger is a disciplinarian only when the politics and the money make it prudent.
What I’m saying is that Goodell is just being a sanctimonious hypocrite when he pretends to be impartial, because the dollar is still in the back of everyone’s mind, and some teams can still pull a lot more shit than others

Adam Jones isn’t a great cornerback. In the last TWO YEARS:
Total tackles: 115
Total sacks: 1
Total INTs: 4 (1 TD)
Int yards: 130
Forced fumbles: 1
Dozens of players have better single-year stats. Pacman’s real value is as a special teamer — he’s exceptional there — but after not playing for over a year, and becoming such a Celebrity… What real value will he bring to Dallas?
Besides publicity and daily headlines, of course.

Goodell just tried to play Mr. Hardball and found out a simple fact of life. Especially, American life. $$$
All of you holier than thou (mostly conservative) types shouldn’t even be calling yourself Americans. You aspire to deny people their rights and individualities, without realizing they didn’t grow up in “your shoes” they grew up in their own and therefore, are walking different paths than you. Its not your place to tell another man what he should and shouldn’t be doing. Unless he’s your Son or Brother, perhaps. But even then, you and I both know people are who they are and ultimately do what they do. Pacman is no different, his life is not your life. Shut up with the judgmental attitudes with everyone “not like you” and stop thinking you’re going to force people to “change” cause they don’t. Any body with a lick of intelligence and logic about the nature of the world knows that. Get a clue already, you sound like a scratched record repeating yourself. They call that “insanity” you know.

We can go over the Eagles losses last year.
Green Bay - lost because of a muffed punt
Seahawks - lost because of AJ ‘Int Machine’ Feeley
New England - See above
Bears - Defense needed ONE play to win the game
1 play goes in the favor of the eagles in those games, magically they are 12-4, not 8-8. You Dallas fans act like we got blowed (thanks Emmit) out every game we lost, when in reality, you guys got the snot beat out of you for 3 quarters vs the Bills, and got beat at home in the playoffs by the vaGiants. Games we truly deserved to lose: Cowboys game 1, Giants Game 1, Redskins Game 1. I guess you really DO need a healthy QB…

icase81, you must’ve just shot up heroin with the Reid boys.
The Eagles put a horrible product on the field and they were never taken seriously outside of an Xbox360. Seriously. They sucked last year. You’re former franchise QB begged management for a WR and nothing was done. This is the real source of your frustration.
By that logic, the Cardinals were 1 or 2 plays away from making the playoffs. But they still sucked.
Just take a deep breath Eagle fan. Wait for the Kolb (Koy Detmer?)era to begin and who knows, maybe Freddie Mitchell will come back much improved like James Thrash.
You guys are only $500 million under the cap, maybe you can look into this thing called Free Agency if the draft is too complex.
And as long as “the real criminals” like the Reid boys are incarcerated or on the sideline with ankle bracelets, I think the streets are much safer. Not the Philly streets, but streets elsewhere.

I love it. Just another reason to hate America’s Most Wanted” team. Some teams bring in guys with “character” while the Cowboys bring in “characters”. So far all their “character” guys haven’t produced even one playoff win”. Lets see what happens when their faced with a little adversity. My feeling is the will fold up like a cheap suit.

I address stuff that deserves to be addressed. What’s your point, that the Cowboys have had some pretty bad guys on their team in the last 48 years? Well congratulations Mr. Obvious, THAT’S TRUE OF ALL TEAMS. If you guys had the nads to say what your favorite teams are I’d come up with a pretty long list too but you’re not that brave, are you? Step up or step off, cowardly dummies.

This is a sad day for Dallas fans like me that have been watching since the late 70’s. I would say that Tom Landry is rolling over in his grave, except that he’s laughing at Jerry Jones for doing him the favor of firing him, instead of sticking him with douchebag’s like Pacman and Tank to coach. Jerry Jones is making me sick with the way he is running this team. It’s not enough to make me stop watching, but its certainly enough to make me stop buying tickets and *going* to the games.

Welcome to the NFL 2.0. Jerry does what Jerry wants and Roger doesn’t have the position to even make eye contact. This is why Kraft and Jones run the league, make the most money and dictate the direction of the NFL. Now, Jerry doesn’t advocate cheating like Kraft does but he would put a family member in a read-naked choke and pretend not to feel the tap if it meant a SB was on the line.
As a fan of an organization, that’s all you can want.
The other 30 owners are all frauds. They’d rather spend time threatening to leave their cities rather than building dynasties.
A bunch of empty suits and idiots who inherited their franchises back when leather helmets were the standard.
Eagles management has no excuse. They have no accountability and no desire to win. It’s a shame really. You were so close to a SuperBowl and now you’re clearly rebuilding nobodies told McNabb.
He actually thought for a moment that Joe Banner was going to get him Randy Moss, or Donte Stallworth, or heck, even Jerry Porter.
Are those tears in your Chunky Soup?
Say hello to 6-10. Indefinitely.
