Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones has received permission from the NFL to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and the preseason. However, he has not yet been reinstated to participate in regular-season games.
The NFL said as follows, via a statement: “In a letter to Jones, Commissioner Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by September 1. Commissioner Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner. Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.”
In other words, if Jones stays out of trouble between now and September 1, he’ll be permitted to participate in regular-season games. This halfway-house-type move makes sense; if Pacman gets in trouble again, he simply doesn’t get back in — and the league doesn’t look foolish for taking a chance on him prematurely.
There’s also a belief in some league circles that Pacman’s presence on the team owned by Jerry Jones helped grease the skids for Pacman’s return. Commissioner Roger Goodell reports to the 32 NFL owners, and few have as much juice as Jerry Jones.

Sucks to be an Eagles fan.
Eric the Midget could’ve covered the Eagles sad WR corp, but now Dallas has Newman/Mike Jenkins/A.Henry/2Pac-Jones to make a mockery of McSoup.
5 Superbowls.

Right…I’m sure you’ve also not watched games that Leonard Little and Ray Lewis played in too.

The NFL is setting a really bad precedent with these types of actions, or lack there of.

AHAHAHA!! Oh man, this is great! All the haters are going to be popping up now!
Dirty_Waters, when was the last time T.O got in trouble with the law? Hmm, I’m thinking, never? YUP, NEVER.
ANYWAY, this is some fantastic news for all Cowboy fans. It gives everybody another reason to fear, er, I mean, hate the Cowboys. Well, both, no matter who’s going to admit it.
Yeah I usually don’t talk like this, but this is too awesome!

I never put TO in the same league as Smack-Man, he is a total wacko, but not a born criminal. The comparison is kind of ridiculous, but what difference will Pac make when the offense goes into a shell at crunch time? Dallas has a pretty good secondary if he is reinstated or not, I don’t get the excitement……

Tex Big Balls:
Yeah but the Eagles have Asante Samuel, Lito Sheppard, Brian Dawkins, and Sheldon Brown. Pretty sure Lito has been a better receiver for the Cowboys than TO has in Philly/Dallas games in the past 2 years.

lokio284 says”
“Your QB has not won a playoff game, the starting tailback never had to handle the load, your best wide receiver is 35, You have the best tight end in the league, you line is ok, the d line is ok, the LBs outside of demarcus ware are old, and the secondary is good but being ok at most positions and being good at a few is not gonna cut it”
All that and they were still 5 wins better than the Eagles last year!

Yeah? This looks like a fun game. In the Eagles’ last 16 games (they didn’t make the playoffs), they won a grand total of 8 games.

They had three of those guys last year and couldn’t finish better than 8-8. You think adding Samuel will provide a 5 game swing? Dream on.

Wow. And they STILL finished 5 games back! Congrats on the Eagles winning their version of the Super Bowl. Beating the Cowboys in Texas Stadium is a pretty big deal… but maybe not as much of a deal as losing all of your home division games. And the Bears haha

At least Goodell is trying and in the process, I think he is proving how much of a F up Paul Tagliabue ultimately was. I mean, Tags could have nabbed the Patriots for Spygate PLENTY of times over the years, he could have done more about tampering and he also could have done something about the downward spiral of off the field conduct, but he chose not to.
Now Goodell is trying to clean up the mess and, quite frankly, he’s just not going to make everyone happy. At least by upsetting no one, Tagliabue got to be popular all around…
Now you get to ask who you would rather have.

I used to take pride in how the Cowboys were called Americas Team. But with the way things have gone the last 20 years in both football and America…well…..but maybe, just maybe, Goodell has something up his sleeve….bait and trap would work…Goodell comes out smelling like a rose if this turd messes up again as it gives Goodell the shot at getting rid of him for good and the fan support would be huge…image, in his eyes, is everything.

As a Cowboys fan I am dissapointed that Pacman got reinstated. We are walking a thin line with guys like T.O. and Tank johnson as it is, the last thing we needed was another nut case in the locker room. Wade Phillips doesn’t exactly as the type to keep these guys in line. After paralyzing a man I don’t think he deserves to play in the NFL again. I am one for second chances but this guys completely crazy and is too big of a risk. Its not worth it, I was hoping he wouldn’t get reinstated
