Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones has received permission from the NFL to participate in offseason workouts, training camp, and the preseason. However, he has not yet been reinstated to participate in regular-season games.
The NFL said as follows, via a statement: “In a letter to Jones, Commissioner Goodell wrote that a final determination on his reinstatement for the 2008 regular season will be made by September 1. Commissioner Goodell told Jones that his continued participation in the NFL depends on demonstrating that he can conduct himself in a lawful and reliable manner. Jones will be expected to continue the personal conduct program established for him by the NFL and the Cowboys and to avoid further adverse involvement with law enforcement.”
In other words, if Jones stays out of trouble between now and September 1, he’ll be permitted to participate in regular-season games. This halfway-house-type move makes sense; if Pacman gets in trouble again, he simply doesn’t get back in — and the league doesn’t look foolish for taking a chance on him prematurely.
There’s also a belief in some league circles that Pacman’s presence on the team owned by Jerry Jones helped grease the skids for Pacman’s return. Commissioner Roger Goodell reports to the 32 NFL owners, and few have as much juice as Jerry Jones.

I will refuse to watch any games that Pacman participates in. If Roger Goodell refuses to clean up the league’s thugs, than the fans should.
I will certainly bet that there is a man sitting in a wheelchair in Las Vegas who won’t be watching either.

Man, Jerry Jones must have some incriminating photos of Goodell. Do you believe for a second he would be reinstated if he was still with the Titans?

This is ridiculous. This freakin guy should never play in the NFL again. He is skum of the earth and cant control himself. I hope he gets hurt and I’ve never said that about any player. Way to clean up the league Goodell. Yeah right

He won’t stay out of trouble. This is a man who made zip in 2007 yet went gambling anyway. Not the most likely guy to notice a connection between things.

It’s not halfway. It’s not that hard. He’s back. He won’t do anything dumb this time. Well, I wouldn’t bet on that, but still.
I wasn’t the biggest fan of it but always claimed he’d be back. Let’s see if he can still play.
Unless he does something between now and Sept. 1…

svnrdr,
This is not just directed at you, but others that say the same kinds of things.
1) I dont believe you won’t watch and that you would say that is laughable.
2) Have you ever watched a Ravens game, including their Superbowl? Can you say double murder?
3) If everyone that is as offended by Pacman as you are doesn’t watch or buy a ticket, it won’t even show up in the ratings or ticket sales. Don’t let the door hit you where the Good Lord split you!

Dear, Pac, when’ the last time you really let your hair down and had a good time? This NFL thing is just so unfair, isn’t it? I mean, you are a CELEBRITY. Who the heck are THEY to tell YOU, PACMAN, what to do? You are SPECIAL. The rules don’t apply to you, just all those other ordinary folk, right, PAC?
There’s a lot of time between now and September! Tick-tock, tick-tock, Pacman!

I agree that this is a joke and I’m highly disappointed in Goodell. I’ve been impressed with his stance to date but this clearly shows that he’s JJ’s puppet. Very disappointing. Pacman has a right to play football and earn I living but it’s not his RIGHT to do it in the NFL. Go to Canada and do it. People have made excused for the guy the day they saw he had talent. That will never stop until he’s not important to the folks holding the purse strings. In this case it’s Jerry Jones. Win at all costs. I don’t know one Cowboy fan that’s happy to have this guy on their team. LAME!

I have to believe that the only reason PacMan has gotten this is because he’s with the Cowboys. Any other team other than probably the Pats he’s sitting at home.

YOU SOLD YOUR SELF OUT COMISH.

I have less problems with him coming back then I do Leonard Little and Ray Lewis. Quite frankly, he served his time, let him play until he inevitably F’s up again. Maybe he’s learned his lesson, maybe he hasn’t, but he’s done what was asked of him and now he should be able to go back to work. This is still a business, and he has found an employer willing to pay him for his services, and realistically, that is all that matters.

Roger Goodell is pathetic. He knows his leverage has run out in this matter and he desperately continues to string Pacman Jones along as long as he can knowing full well that Jerry Jones has already decided Pacman is going to play this year. Goodell is a puppet now.
And for the guy above who says he won’t watch any games with Pacman involved…I’d bet 10 grand of Pacman’s money you will.

If I were the man in the wheelchair in Vegas I would watch every Pacman game, hope he plays magficently, earns lots of incentives, and eventually gets a great new contract.
Then, IF Pacman is found to be legally responsbile for the my injuries in a civil action, there will be a pot of gold at the end of the journey which will help me to care of myself and my family.

This kind of aggravates me and not because i am an eagles fan but because the only reason why this guy is getting any reinstatement is because his new owner is lobbying for him. This is not unusual but lets be honest if this was say the Falcons, 49ers, or even the jags this would a done deal. I think anyone other then the cowboys who not have been able to lobby for this guy. The funny thing is that jerry jones is selling his soul for a championship but i don’t think this team is championship material. Your QB has not won a playoff game, the starting tailback never had to handle the load, your best wide receiver is 35, You have the best tight end in the league, you line is ok, the d line is ok, the LBs outside of demarcus ware are old, and the secondary is good but being ok at most positions and being good at a few is not gonna cut it in a very tough NFC EAST. The NFC is very competitive conference so its very hard to pick a super bowl pick.

What a job Goodell has done thus far as Commish!
First he destroys tapes that would have been needed to say how much cheating the pats did.
Then he reinstates Pacman, a man who ordered a hit on one man and put another one in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Pacman doesn’t deserve to breath let alone make millions as a NFL player.
And there’s no doubt in my mind that the Fact that Pacman is now a cowboy helped him get
reinstated.
In my mind Goodell and his best buddy Jerry Jones are just as guilty as pacman is for putting that man in a wheelchair. and for all the future acts of crime that Pacman will indeed commit is all due to Jones for trading for pacman and goodell for reinstated him.

In Dallas’s last 4 games last season (Including their annual playoff choke). They scored a grand total of 45 points. I don’t think their defense was a problem, so who cares if Smack-Man plays, not like it’s going to matter. From 12-1 to none and done wasn’t the defense’s fault.Yeah, he’s a POS, but don’t kid yourself, every team has them…

Heck no he wouldn’t be reinstated if he were still with the Titans. Have the Titans demonstrated ANY ability to help keep their players out of trouble? Hell, they’ve got problems keeping their coaches in line! To reiterate: The Cowboys have had one player arrested in the last 5 years, and that player was released within hours of arrest. That’s it. One guy in 5 years. The Titans recently drafted a guy that has pending battery, false informing, and disorderly conduct charges against him. One of their assistant coaches, Chuck Cecil, pled guilty to reckless driving not three months ago!
