The Philadelphia Eagles announced today that they have agreed to terms with rookie safety Quintin Demps, making Demps the first Eagles draft pick — and one of the first draft picks in the league — to reach a contract agreement.
Philadelphia took Demps in the fourth round of last month’s draft. At Texas-El Paso Demps had 17 interceptions, the most among players in the 2008 draft class. He also had two 100-yard interception returns.
By signing Demps now, the Eagles are getting a jump on making sure they have all of their draft picks in camp on time. Although first overall pick Jake Long and third overall pick Matt Ryan are signed, it’s unusual for a team to have any of its second-day picks signed in May.
Demps is well known for his YouTube highlight reel, which includes an interception of Kevin Kolb, who is now his teammate in Philadelphia.

Seeing as how two other teams (Dolphins & Bears) have already signed 2nd day picks this year, why make such a big fuss about the Eagles doing it?

“Demps is well known for his YouTube highlight reel”
Really? You mean the one with fewer than 9000 views, even after being posted on the #1 NFL site in the world?
Every player who reaches the NFL these days has 10 of these videos on youtube, and 95% of them are more impressive than the one I just watched.

Why even bother watching a highlight reel of a guy who’s not going to see the field during the regular season, except from the sideline.

Well jellyboy, the Eagles, not to mention various and sundry other NFL teams, still beat up on those self-impressed yet somehow always overrated cowflops when it counts. Whereas the ‘boys themselves tend to … flop, when under pressure. It’s Romo-matic. (Or “it’s mah…mah… (sniff) mah quarterback…(sniffle).)

I have to disagree with Super, I think by midseason he’ll beat out Considine for the #3 safety spot. Some people said the Eagles got a real steal with him in the fourth round. Not that he’ll see a whole lot of time with our three outstanding cornerbacks!(or 2 corners & 1 wr)!!

Oh, like happened during their one two three four five Super Bowl championships? Last time I checked, the Eagles are still 0-2 in Super Bowls… and they were 8-8 last season, dead last in the division.
