Jacksonville defensive end Paul Spicer decided to end his boycott of the team’s voluntary workouts and reported for duty this morning, according to the Florida Times-Union.

That move contradicts Drew Rosenhaus’s YouTube assertion that Spicer would not join the team until the mandatory minicamp. Spicer is entering the final year of a contract that, again per Rosenhaus, leaves him on the outside looking in on the 50 best-paid defensive ends in the NFL.

Spicer started 12 games and matched a career-high with 7.5 sacks in 2007 and added another one during the team’s playoff victory against the Steelers. While the team needs him on the field this season, an extension might not be in the cards. Spicer turns 33 in August and the Jags took Derrick Harvey and Quentin Groves with their first two picks in the draft.
