A league source tells PFT that the Baltimore Ravens have worked out free agent wide receiver Freddie Mitchell.
We first heard about the Mitchell workout when a reader tipped us off that Mitchell had mentioned it on his MySpace page.
Mitchell, the 2001 first-round pick of the Philadelphia Eagles, played four years in Philly but hasn’t suited up for a regular-season NFL game since the 2004 season. He caught 90 passes for 1,263 yards and five touchdowns in four seasons, and his best moment came when he caught a 28-yard pass on fourth-and-26 in the NFC Divisional Playoff in January of 2004.
A year later, when Mitchell talked trash before the Super Bowl, Patriots coach Bill Belichick famously said, “He’s terrible, and you can print that.”
Mitchell signed with the Chiefs in 2005 but was cut before the season and has since then had workouts with a handful of teams, none of which offered him contracts.

If they sign him then my respect for Harbaugh is out the door. Probably the only respectable thing Belichik ever said.

One of the best lines ever by a coach about an opposing player. Can anybody think of any better?

What? Are the Ravens that desperate for receiver help? If Mitchell was 1/10th as good as he thought he is, he would be an All Pro.

If Harbaugh is bringing in washed up WRs he knows from his Philly days, maybe he’ll bring in Todd Stinkston too. I’d love to go to training camp and watch that Lewis and Reed crush him mercilessly. Move on or move out, baby!!!

I think that taking a look at Freddie Mitchell would only come after the Ravens starting out 0-9 with all of their receivers on IR.

On certain fan forums they have users that write out long love letters to players on Myspace and actually post them proudly.
“Hay guys i just sent that new UDFA we signed a myspace message and friend request, hope he replies soon!”
I wonder if players print them out and show all their buddies at work, while sharing a chuckle. I KNOW I WOULD!

Granted Freddie was FAR from a Pro-Bowl calibre reciever he did have decent hands and was fearless going across the middle. He needed to do 2 things differentley to be a success in the NFL: 1)If he really focused on being the best slot reciever he could be, he’d probably still have a place on a roster, 2) Shut UP!
