One of the benefits of owning and operating a web site that more than a few people visit from time to time is that, from time to time, I can post anything I want to post that is unrelated to the primary subject matter of the site.
And this is an item that falls squarely into the category of eye-rolling parental pride.
Florio Jr. and two of his buddies have formed a band, and they recently made their world debut at their elementary school’s annual talent show. They’d been practicing for weeks, and I wasn’t quite sure whether the end result was actually going to sound like music.
Surprisingly, it does. And they’re only eleven years old.
So I now present for your consideration Phil on guitar and vocals, Matt on bass and vocals, and Florio Jr. on the drums performing, of all things, ”Basket Case” by Green Day.

I’m just wondering Florio, if your kid wasn’t such a beast on the drums, would you have posted this? I could never have gotten up on stage at that age and done that, so props to the little dudes.

Keep practicing and believe in yourself. THe biggest thing they lack is confidence, not talent. Well done.

YES! YES! YES!
Just got my boy a Tama Rockstar kit. Won’t let him touch my Warwick bass though - he’s 6 and I need to know for certain that my baby (that would be the bass) remains safe…
Rock on, Florio Jr.!

11 years old…They rock!!! Very nice.
Florio, do you let them practice at your house?? I grew up playing in a band since I was 12. I know my parents put up with a lot of screeching and bad notes. You have an advantage, Florio Jr. can rock a beat! This is way cool.
I know you are proud!

as someone who has played the drums for 14 years, and has been playing in (relatively) successful bands for about 6, i feel like i can speak accurately as to the talent of your kid….and he’s actually pretty good. seriously. get him some lessons, let him learn a little technique, and he could be really good.

Simplistic green day chords or not, playing guitar AND singing at the same time is one of the most difficult things to do. for an 11 year old, im impressed. Your son did good also as did the bassist. They didnt mess up! now all they need is some partying lessons from Pac Man Jones.

Seriously though, those kids can rock. Great job, you have a right to be a proud pop.
