The New York Jets have signed free-agent running back Musa Smith.
The team announced the move on Tuesday.
Smith, a five-year veteran, has spent his entire career with the Ravens. He re-signed with the team for one year after hitting free agency in 2007.
Smith appeared in all 16 games last season, getting his first career start. He rushed for a career-high 264 yards, but averaged only 3.5 per carry.
The running back position in New York also includes Thomas Jones, Jesse Chatman, Leon Washington, Jehuu Caulcrick, and Danny Woodhead.

Smart signing. Jones and Washington are locks. Woodhead is practice squad fodder at best, and Whoever emerges from Chatman, Smith, or Caulcrick will be an upgrade as a short yardage back, and the 2 odd men out are easily expendable.

Musa Smith has a job and Shawn Alexander doesn’t. Go figure. Couldn’t have told me this would happen 2 years ago.

I’m a Pats fan so here goes…that is actually a smart signing by the Jets…really I mean it.
Maybe Mangina did learn something other video taping.

Musa could be a very good running IF he stays healthy. He has had innumerable injuries with the Ravens. He is a good special teamer. A good teammate. Not a trouble maker. Only real issue is injuries have kept him for fulfilling what many thought was good potential. Good luck to you Musa.

A guy with “USA” in his name can’t be too bad.
