If Fox goes, I bet Peppers goes as well. I think they'll both be back in 2009.

As a comparison another highly regarded pass rusher, Dwight Freeney, was given top dollar after a season in which his sacks dropped by half. Peppers is an amazing talent and he will be fine. He wasn't prepared to be the main man on the DL because he always had others to put pressure on the OL. So, I would say the Panthers should sign him now bc they have leverage. They could sign him to a deal with a huge bonus due next offseason. If he proves his worth then they keep him. But if he disappears again well then they can look to find a replacement without a huge financial hit.

Probally moving to the right side this year, he's really gonna have to step it up against left tackles. Sign and trade, someone will want him.

Last year was basically without him. Is he going to show up this year or will the mysterious training camp malady rise up again?

Its not like the Panthers have much of a choise. Look at their DL without Peppers. Yikes!

That being said Peppers did play like a PUNK last year. And he doesn't deserve to be paid among the best DE in the league. Did Bruce Smith or Reggie White ever have a year like he did in their prime. No.

Pepper's effort has always been a question mark for Panther fans. But considering who they have at DL now, they have to give him a new contract.

At worst Julius is competent and at best he will be again amazingly outstanding, and I suspect the latter. Teams have to project what will occur. Trends for NFL players do not have perfectly smooth scopesl; that is simply impossible. Peppers had a blip on the radar screen. Let it be. And keep him so he can do amazing things for your team.
