When pictures surfaced last month of Cardinals quarterback Matt Leinart cavorting with girls who might or might not have been old enough to be drinking the booze that Leinart was pouring down her gullet, Leinart was defiant.  (Or, more accurately, his lawyers were.)

In response to pictures that surfaced last week of Titans quarterback Vince Young cavorting shirtless with a bunch of dudes and not a female in sight, Young has apologized.

Sort of.

I really apologize to some of the kids if they did see it, because I’m trying to be a role model to them,” Young said.

Vince, you should have stopped there.  But, fortunately for folks like us who like to have things to talk about, you didn’t.

“I was just having fun, having a good time with my guys. I ain’t seen them in a long time we hadn’t been back in Austin in so long,” Young said.  “I didn’t drive home, didn’t do none of that crazy stuff.  I had a designated driver and things like that, but overall, we had a good time down in Austin when we got back at school.

“That’s the way of life of a quarterback with my status.  I guess someone was trying to make some money.  I guess they must have sold the picture to the web site or whatever.  At the same time, that’s the life I chose to live.  But it’s not going to stop me from not having fun.  I just got to watch certain things about guys taking pictures.  I’ve got to be more careful for myself.”

So the apology isn’t for the lifestyle, it’s that anyone got a look at the lifestyle.

And as pointed out by Stephanie Stradley at AOL’s FanHouse, Vince’s lifestyle included six publicized parties last weekend.

Vince, unless you start confiscating everyone’s cell phone whenever you choose to get your Cuervo on, those pictures from the annual convention of the Village People Fan Club (not that there’s anything wrong with the Village People, or their Fan Club, if they have one) won’t be the last embarrassing images seen by the kids whom you want buying your jerseys looking up to you.

We’re hoping that you don’t figure that one out for at least a couple of years.
