Although organized team activities in the NFL are voluntary, it always raises eyebrows when a player doesn’t show up. And when a Pro Bowl player doesn’t show up, is usually causes quite a stir.

So it’s a little surprising that no one is offering any explanation for why the Buffalo Bills’ Pro Bowl left tackle, Jason Peters, hasn’t attended OTAs.

As a reader pointed out to us, the Bills’ official web site reported after yesterday’s OTAs, “The only absentees were Jason Peters and J.P. Losman. Losman has an out of town commitment. He’s not expected back until next week.”

OK, so Losman has an out of town commitment, but what about Peters? Did he tell the team of his plans? Is he working out on his own? Does he think his status as a Pro Bowler means he deserves a new contract?

We don’t know. But we do know that Peters is one of the NFL’s best young offensive linemen, and he’s not there with the rest of the team.
