The bad news is that the Cleveland Browns have lost starting cornerback Daven Holly to a “serious” knee injury.
The good news is that they still have Leigh Bodden. (Oops.)
With Bodden traded to Detroit for defensive tackle Shaun Rogers, the Browns are suddenly thin at the position. And the Philadelphia Eagles suddenly have more leverage in their efforts to trade cornerback Lito Sheppard.
The Browns haven’t disclosed the extent of Holly’s injury.

Yes, but what would the Browns give the Eagles for Lito?

Unless it’s Braylon Edwards then don’t do it. no way in hell the Browns are dealing him, i dont think Lito’s going anywhere this year.

You’re right Florio. The Browns should be keeping as many defensive backs as possible. No need to have a decent defensive line or anything.

For who? For what?
They don’t have a WR…though if we had three first round picks we could make a move…or we could draft THREE linemen!!

Unless they’re offering Braylon Edwards Lito isn’t going anywhere period. Stop it already. This is as bad as last season when every time you talked about the Eagles you talked about McNabb getting traded. Oops he’s still on the team. Why don’t you post a big story about how you were dead wrong about that.

Maybe they will trade for Lito Sheppard. They still have most of next years draft picks to waste… er, I mean lose.

Could the Browns trade Donte back to the Eagles? What kind of contract does Donte have with them? Seems like a win win with some kind of additional but nominal compensation to the Browns…

Sorry about your luck Brownies!!! That Shaun Rogers trade is looking worse and worse. And then Savage made the boneheaded move of not taking a cornerback in the draft. Course, the Browns only had like four picks total, all on the second day. Very dumb for them to trade up for that linebacker when they needed all the picks they could get. And even dumber not taking a corner. Seriously, who are the Browns top three cornerbacks going to be? Eric Wright and who else?

It’s football, florio. Injuries happen. It doesnt change the fact that bodden is/was/will continue to be a stiff. they’ll fare just as well with the kids they have as they would have with leigh “i have a girly name” bodden.

Lito’s awesome when he’s between knee, elbow, hip, ankle, hand, quad, thumb, back & toe injuries. I wonder what The Eagles can get from The Browns for him?

It doesn’t really matter how bad the knee injury is.
The moment they cut Holly open he’ll end up with a staph infection and be done for the year.

I can’t wait to bet the under on Cleveland Browns total wins for the 2008 season. I’m guessing it will be something like 9.5. Gonna make some nice coin on that one.

seriously folks, who are we talking about? Daven Holly? Did any of you outside the 44115 area code know who he was until Florio just implied chaos at the cornerback position in Cleveland?
The facts are that Daven was/is a solid role player that was/is up for competition as one of the starting CB’s. He is 1 of 9 CB’s currently on the Browns roster competing for that spot opposite E. Wright.
In hindsight, the trade (Bodden and a pick for Rodgers) is still a no brainer! Bodden was above average when healthy. WHEN healthy, which was very rare the last couple years.

Yeah…i am sure the browns are gonna suck this year because they won 10 games last year with great defense (corners) and a crappy offense.

Bodden was making noise about a new deal, the Browns saw that he was quickly becoming an “overrated” CB, and wanted to be paid like a top CB. As the Giants showed last year, a pass rush is much more important than “shutdown” CB’s. The Browns saw this and decided to act.
