Bears running back Cedric Benson returned to work on Wednesday, after missing two days of voluntary practices with the team.
It’s still unclear why Benson missed Monday’s and Tuesday’s sessions.
We still think it might have something to do with G.M. Jerry Angelo’s recent comments that Benson put himself in a position to be a victim when he was arrested earlier this month.
“He’d have to explain to me how I put myself in a situation to be a victim,” Benson said. “I was just enjoying myself, doing my own thing.”
As to his arrest for boating under the influence and resisting arrest, Benson maintains his innocence.
“It would be nice to have it gone and get it cleared up and over with, but you know, I don’t really spend too much time thinking about it at all,” Benson said. “I’m sticking to my story and the truth will come out, sometime, whether it be now or a year from now or whenever.”

Some Bears fans are turned off by Benson, most due to his performance last season but a lot because of how he answers questions. Hes always honest and usually pretty introspective to those not familiar with the Bears. I realize it all wasnt Benson last year playing poorly, it was a collective effort, but i am glad to see that the Bears drafted Forte. I think Benson is just one of those guys who will thrive in the two back system like he did with Thomas Jones. It will be interesting for me and my fellow Bears fans to see if Benson picks up where he left off when he broke his ankle, as he was just beginning to show some consistency. As for all of this offseason nonsense, I follow the Bears closer than those not fans of the bears and probably Mr. Florio and knowing how Benson is through the media, etc, I am inclined at this point to believe his side of the arrest story. Time will ultimately tell.

Why’d he miss practice? Just a guess… Boating outing?
I would love to know what would’ve happened had Cedric “The No Ground Gainer” been a member of the Minnesota Vikings and aboard the “Love Boat”.

I too am curious as to how he made himself a victim.
Should he stay at home with the blinds pulled, cowering in fear that the police might come by and question him?

Bear fans are turned off by Benson because he is unproductive. Bear fans are turned off by Benson because he is dumbfounded by the fact that NFL game speed is twice that of the collegiate level. Bear fans are turned of by Benson because he was a high draft pick that commands a hefty paycheck, hasn’t scored as many touchdowns as Mike Vrabel or William the fridge Perry. Yet, he is getting pepper sprayed and dragged of leisure boats when he should be somewhere running Walter Payton’s hill or at least somewhere trying to stop Forte from taking his job by day one of training camp. EARN YOUR MONEY BENSON! Rashaun Sallam, Curtis Enis, Darnell Autry now you.

I don’t think the “victim” comment needs to be explained. A guy making 5 mill a year to hold a ball and run forward violated the conduct policy of his employer, basically putting himself at their mercy.
Now the league/team does what they see fit, and Benson takes it on the chin.

Why do I get the feeling Angelo isn’t singing “Welcome back, welcome back, wel-come baaack”?
