Law enforcement authorities are refusing to release an audio recording taken during the arrest of Chicago Bears running back Cedric Benson, the Austin television station KXAN is reporting.
Assistant County Attorney Daniel Bradford told KXAN that the decision to withhold the audio “is based on the public’s desire to protect the integrity of the county’s investigations into and prosecution of crime.”
But what about the public’s desire to find out whether the police are mistreating citizens? Benson has claimed he was treated badly by the officers who arrested him for boating while intoxicated, and the audio could shed light on whether Benson’s claims are valid.
Benson claims he was not drunk and was simply enjoying an evening on his boat with friends and family when police stopped him. His next court hearing is scheduled for June 30.

Personally, I back the police first, then the suspects second. The thugs that were beat in Philly? Sounds like they earned it. To those who say Bensons “family and friends” back up his story, what do you expect? Me personally, I would not. But yeah, Benson’s story sounded suspicious right off. I had a “husband- in-law” shot and killed in the line of duty and most times, the cops are psyched up after a shooting. Sorry, they all can’t be robots. But, wait, I’m sure the Almighty Rev. Al will be shouting from the rooftops soon, just like he did when those 5 or 5 thugs/punks in Jenna wanted to get away with beating. But, no, the audio should wait until it’s appropriate time in court.

Police brutality and corruption is the EXCEPTION, not the RULE.
Are you kidding me? What country do you live in? I know you’d like to believe it’s a lot like the cop shows and stuff but the police in this country are pretty dirty because they’re dealing with a stressful profession, juggling personal problems, and getting paid like garbage at the same time. Few are cut out to carry the badge or the authority that goes along with it. Furthermore, few have the true passion to do their job in the face of trying to live a normal life, not to mention the eerie fraternity that goes on within the sect.
I personally know a dozen or so cops all over this country, and they all have told me near the center of why they joined the force was for the authority….the mandate to do what they want to do. These are friends of mine so I’d hate to know what the others I don’t know have lurking in their minds. Police=America’s biggest gang.

Well in New Orleans 5 cops beat up a elderly man. Do you think that they needed that type of force bizurk. I’m sorry, but cop believe they are above the law and they can do whatever they want. What about in New York when police shoot that kid 50 times. Does that reserve that much force? There are thousands of incidence that we don’t know about that has to deal with police brutaliy and curroption so don’t tell me that cops are truly good people. I know some are, but not all.
Exactly. The majority of cops are scared to death and and are getting paid peanuts to put their lives on the line. Therefore, that’s why you don’t see them putting their lives on the line. Why should they? Instead you see the excessive force on elderly men and stuff like the lady who was killed in her home in Atlanta or acting like someone speeding just murdered someone. You rarely hear of the cops taking “excessive” force with real gangsters who they really need to be protecting us from. It’s easy to talk tough and beat up on low threats. That’s the truth that people don’t want to face and a reality we need to get corrected if we’re really going to clean up crime in this country.

Its pople like you who still get away with being cops in places like texas, and use that as YOUR crutch when tryin to defend your moronic comments. If your curious why he waited to yell its because they drug him out of eyesite before they started the mistreatment so they could make a cover story to back each others claims up. 100% of criminals(like benson…..and REPUBLICANS BUSH, CHENEY, ROVE, ETC, ETC…NEED I SAY MORE.) I guess i should be content now that i got my $600, i guess ill go spend it on drugs an booze like you probably assume every minority, democrat, or anyone different then you do. Im not even a bears fan, im an eagles fan, im just totally unimpressed with the police in this country, they’ve never helped me and ive definatley seen them do wrong. I place myself with my family on a lake for mothers day or something and this happening to me, my mom would be horrified. It probably wouldnt happen though cause im white…you know.

You very paranoid. All the cops are bad, the cops are the biggest gang,the cops always give beatings blah blah blah. Dude, posts aren’t even worth reading due to the “cops are bad” fluff that you keep harping on. You need to get out of your apartment, stop playing Madden, and live in the real world. A SMALL minority of cops are bad. I’m sure that all the bad cops moved to Texas just to beat up on Benson. In most cases, the pro athlete thinks he’s above the law as I could go on and on with a list of them. Benson “thoguht” he could party and boat at the same time even though he’d been stopped before. You notice it wasn’t his a) Mother or b) his friends who were taken away. It was the BOATDRIVER who thought he as a pro athlete had MORE rights than John Q Public. This drives marginally decent athletes like him. He’s a “name” who thinks he’ll get away with his crime, like Vick, Pac, Henry etc thought they would to. Now, go back to your paranoid little world where all the big bad cops are out to get cha.
