Chip Rosenbloom, the son of Carroll Rosenbloom and Georgia Frontiere, says in response to a report that the St. Louis Rams are for sale that the St. Louis Rams won’t be moving.

But he doesn’t specifically say they aren’t for sale.

“It has only been four months since my mom passed away,” Rosenbloom said.  “Her passing immediately caused speculation that we were selling the team.  We’ve been approached by several people.

“And while we deal with her estate, I can assure you we have every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis.”

The article in which Rosenbloom’s quotes appear don’t include a specific quote from him that the team isn’t for sale.  Instead, he says only that “we have every intention of keeping the Rams in St. Louis.”  (I presently have every intention of not devouring a dozen Oreos and chasing them with two milkshakes before going to bed.  Whether that actually comes to pass is a minute-by-minute battle, which at any minute I might lose.)

Meanwhile, our pal Howard Balzer of the Sports Xchange advises us that any suggestion that the Rams’ lease expires after the 2012 season is simply incorrect.

“The Rams lease technically doesn’t expire until 2025,” Balzer said.  “However, there is a ‘flash point’ in 2015 where the stadium has to be considered in the upper quarter of the league.”
