The Dallas Cowboys have reached an agreement with cornerback Terence Newman on a long-term extension.
Per Adam Schefter of NFL Network, it’s a six-year extension, and it’s worth $50.2 million, with $22.5 million in guaranteed money.
Newman, 29, was a first-round pick in 2003. He was due to become an unrestricted free agent in 2009.

Good to see Newman get locked up. Hopefully he doesn’t pull a “biscuit” and get fat and lazy.

as an eagles fan, i am happy to see this. no one on dallas defense scares me (including Pacman) with the exception of Ware. everyone else on that defense is dispensable.
on another note, i hope they lock up roy williams another five years. that way, eagles receivers will find their way to the dallas end zone easier.

I dont think you’ll see Newman get lazy, he’s shown nothing but consistency his entire college/pro career. Lets hope that continue’s on, because he is a fantastic DB.

This is suprrising to me. I figured the reason they went out and drafted a corner in round 1 is because they planned on letting Newman walk after this year. The Boys and chargers are both looking at salary cap hell in the next few years.

kellyb, I agree with you 100%. I thought with Pacman and Jenkins, and Newman being 30, he’d be gone for sure.
cantgetenough, LMFAO. That’s awesome man.
Ok, this is a GREAT day to be a Cowboys fan! Who’s next? Ware? Hamlin? The way Dallas has been, it could be BOTH! Don’t want to get to excited, but, YAY!

As an Eagles fan, you should at least fear Roy Williams. Horsecollaring TO began the conflict between he and McNabb, and he also snagged the late pick 6 that won what should have been a lost game, and in the process put McNabb on the bench with an injured vag. If the Eagles had a TE worth a crap, I’d say that you have nothing to worry about from RW, but you don’t have a TE worth a crap.
P.S. Greg Ellis got as many sacks as any Eagle player did last year, and he did it in 10 starts in a new defense from a position that was still pretty new to him.

The Eagles WRs are going to have enough to worry about from the Cowboys corners. Not a single one of them warrants double coverage.

Yeah, maybe Roy can draw them a map since they never seem to find it on their own.

If anybody’s counting, Eagles WRs scored two TDs in two games against the Cowboys last year, and one of those was a garbage time score in a 38-17 Cowboys blowout. Westbrook led the Eagles in receiving yards in both games. Eagles WRs have managed one 100 yard game in the last 7 games against the Cowboys. If you want to count Westbrook’s numbers, it bumps it up to two.
