Cowboys cornerback Pacman Jones is ready to go to work.  But since Pacman has yet to be cleared to practice with the Cowboys, he still must wait to do so.

And so Pacman says he plans to call NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, in order to request permission to work out with the team.

“I still have to go through the process, and I’m just waiting, waiting every day,” Jones told Albert Breer of the Dallas Morning News.  “I’m ready to get in there and learn the defense.  And I’ve been out of the game for a year, so I need to shake off all the rust to get ready to play. . . .  I’m going to put in a call to the commissioner some time soon and hope he at least lets me work out with the team.”

Pac, we advise against it.  Goodell knows you want to play again, and Goodell has promised to review your case before training camp.  Sure, it might be a bit frustrating.  But maybe part of Goodell’s plan in this regard is to see if you have learned how to deal properly with frustrating situations.

There’s also that question of whether Jones’ story to police in September 2007 of the guy in Vegas who thought that Pacman had ordered a hit on Tommy Urbanski and others meshes with whatever story Pacman gave to Goodell about the same incident.  If Pacman didn’t provide the exact same version of Goodell, there might not be a reinstatement in 2008.
